I’ve been reading Chefs comments and some of other people.
I’ve cried with some of your stories. I really hope you succeed.
It’s so beautiful to read about your effort, about all the things you are doing, it’s mind-blowing.
I live in a small town in South America. Here drinking beer is a national sport.I totally understand you when you talk about what you feel in a hot day when everybody is drinking. For me, some of ginger ale with lemon ( you leave one slice of lemon inside the glass as decoration)has been a good substitute for beer.May be it would be nice if we exchange recipes for non-alcoholic coktails.
What I really want to tell you is that I’ve read an interesting summary about a book called ” the spiritual dimensions of healing addictions” Although the book is related to some spiritual concepts like chakras ..it says something that probably you will understand no matter your beliefs. It says that drinking alcohol affects your self-steem , your sexuality and your security. The article also states that, being sober is not enough. We have to deal with the real cause of the addiction. May be looking backwards you will discover that you sarted drinking alcohol as a substitute for love, affection , security , fun, freedom, sex, ... the list might be too long.We just have to realize that those things are not found inside a bottle, we have to reconstruct our life so that we make them come back, so that we can live them as a reality not as a temporary delusion produced by alcohol.
Keep on fighting you’re doing a great job. Hugs and encouragement from a distant corner in South America.

Well, I have to admit that I didn’t have a drinking problem but I used to drink some beers and eventually something stronger with my friends. I went to the doctor and she told me that I had to quit alcohol forever. At first, I couldn’t believe it. I thought it was impossible for me. It’s been 3 months since that and I want to share my experience. I didn’t realize how much my idea of having fun was connected to alcohol.Nowadays, I keep going out with my friends and I only drink soda or non-alcoholic cocktails. I’ve learned that I don’t need alcohol to feel attractive, fun or free. For all of you that are trying to reach this goal don’t hesitate to cry for help when you need it, you are stronger than alcohol. Besides, you can’t imagine the joy I experience when I don’t wake up with a hang-over. Keep on fighting.
