OK. I’ve cleared ~$800 now. Less my past storage unit fees, it’s about $550. Found out yesterday that I got a free month on the storage unit when I paid a year’s rental, so I have ‘til the end o’ March to, hopefully, vacate the unit, which is good because I’m further behind than I thought I would be at this point. My place looks like ‘Sanford and Son’ at the moment. Have given away other stuff & plan to list some stuff on the local freecycle group.
Probably sell more items in the next few days. I find values of collectibles are down 50% over a year or two ago. I imagine this is the economy. You can only really expect to snag a third to a half of the real value for collectibles. Some things I’ve done better on. Ebayers tend to set the market price lower than the real value, which sucks. Sucking, also, is the slices ebay & paypal take. They do add up.
I’ve had one deadbeat ‘winner’ (I don’t get that???), but I’ve had some super interaction with some great people. It would be cool to plot the loci of all my buyers on a 43places-style map. International sales are a PITA. Just an extra Customs form, but the shipping is so expensive. Cheaper methods are incredibly SLOW.
Still have 100% feedback & hope to keep it that way by fully detailing the items’ condition. I have found about 1/3 of buyers don’t bother to leave positive feedback, which I find semi-annoying. I know it’s not item quality issues. Having firm and prominent selling, shipping, and return policies is crucial. FYI: CYA. No problems, yet.
I have a continually-evolving Dreamweaver template, but I find the ebay API renders the code a tad differently, and it takes a few tweaks & previews to get it the way I want it. Another time consuming process is researching items to find the proper ‘value’ range. I’ve had a few things, apparently, never sold on ebay before, but, once you find the appropriate Community chat room, you can generally get enough info to google it & pin it down.
I have been using imgboot.com as my image host, with GREAT results. It is FREE, with no bandwidth or image number limit. There is a file size / image resolution limit, but that’s everywhere.
This is a rather time-consuming endeavor, but, if you want to get rid of your junk, this is a great way to do it. I endorse doing it. Good Luck!
