This has been on the shelf for a while. I’ve had a couple different people tell me they found this to be his creepiest/scariest/most disquieting work.I assume this means it’s also one of his better books. We’ll see if it affects me as much as it has some others!

Finished it tonight, with mixed feelings. It was odd because I had heard from a couple of folks it was pretty bad, so I went in with low expectations. I would agree that the writing wasn’t very good compared to some of his other stuff. Having said that, two things saved this book for me, and made it if not great, quite readable. 1. I found the characters easier to connect with and root for than in the others I’ve read recently. 2. More importantly, I found the simple premise of this book enthralling, and as someone who no longer even pays for a landline, a bit disconcerting. ;) It is, without doubt, the most realistic and plausible, book of his I’ve read so far. The fact that the seed of this story stems from an increasingly prevasive element of our society was fascinating to me.
Finished it this morning, and thought it was ok, though not as good as some of his other collections. I’d actually rank them pretty much in the order they appear in the book. I liked “Langoliers” and “Secret Window, Secret Garden” (much more than expected after seeing the crappy movie first). I didn’t really care much for “The Library Policeman” and “The Sun Dog.” (disappointing b/c I’ve always liked the Castle Rock stuff). Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed the book, but after this and the “Tommyknockers” hopefully my next selection will be a bit more engrossing.
Just finished Tommyknockers. I’d say it’s ok, but not very good compared to some of his other stuff. Found it much tougher than usual to get emotionally invested in the characters.
Does anyone know where to find a complete list? You know, they’re always in the front of the paperbacks, but I think I’m at least halfway now (just finished Christine) and would like to have a full list if possible as I work toward this goal
