Interestingly,
The four months I got to live in France and the four week class was WAY better than the year of french I took in College.
I just renewed my membership to the Brooklyn Public library after seeing Harry And The Potters play out there yesterday.
They have foriegn language audio books you can download!
I figure a good read along would be worth it’s weight in gold.
One day in france I got a hold of “The Little Price” in french. spent 6 hours reading it with a dictionary and the internet. I learned a lot that day. Mostly that I had a lot still to learn but it was an intersting expearence.
A week or so ago I decided to read the story in English. When I was about half way through I realized that every thing seemed to fermiliar because I had actually understood the story in French!! That was completely exciting.
The other language is in my heart now, and I need to keep practicing!!

It’s been several months since leaving france, and while I do not miss the drama, I miss speaking french, or at least trying!
It was just getting to the point where I could start picking up new words from conversations if they were repeated enough.
There must be a way to continue the language studies while here in the states.
Learning to comunitcate in another has to be right up there with one of the most life altering expearences of my life.
That is not an over exageration.

I must find a way to become interested in learning French!
Similar to my interest in Mathematics, or C++.
Drawing there is the same problem of interest.
I MUST find a way. Interest.
But how? I hate studying french.
I don’t know why.
Something has to give. And soon. I must make a change!

Man. Maybe I’m not able to learn languages!
We have no text book right now in the class, which is only 4 weeks. 4 weeks sounded like an eternity when it started….but after one week, seems barely enough time.
Super shy also. I have no courage to try the little bit of french I know with the locals! Can’t even ask my boyfriend to play speaking french with me.
Maybe I will ask him to stop talking in English today.
Maybe I will call Claudio, the guy who put up a poster at the school. He’s learning English…..
I really really want this! Why am I so scared to try? Why can’t I just sit down and learn/practice this stuff?!?

Today will be the third day of class.
It’s going pretty poorly.
Damn. I really want to do this!!!
I have four hours before class tonight.
I’m going to learn how to ask questions. And practice the several new verbs.

First day of French class was pretty terrible.
It’s one of those immersion classes.
Ug. I’m at a much lower level than my class mates to begin with…
I wish I had a greater aptitude for learning languages.
This is going to be hard, and perhaps not much fun.
You can’t start at the end of your journey though huh?
Perhaps I’ll just try trusting that it will get easier. Knowing that when you begin anything, it’s always very very hard, but gets better.
This 43things.com is crazy. I can’t believe I’m actually doing all these things on this list!!! All it took was writing them down and looking at them several times a weeks!
I would say this is a slow and life altering experience.

Going to spend the next several months in Grenoble with my boyfriend. There is a language school there which offers classes for internation adults?!? Crazy huh? What are the odds.
Took some French in College, three classes, failed the fist one, then passes the other two with flying colors…..but honestly I don’t remember a word of it! This is going to be an exciting trip!
