learn sign language

okay so I got my wisdom teeth taken out this morning and they sedated me. When I woke up from it I couldn’t talk or move my mouth or communicate, I could barely think actually, but all I remember is signing “thank you” to the surgeon over and over. My mom said I was signing a bunch of things and she asked the doctor, “oh, so do you know sign language?” and she was like, “um, no actually.” lol!

Today I was at the mall eating in the food court with a friend and a man walked by and dropped a keychain on the table that said something along the lines of “I’m deaf, please buy this keychain for $2.00 and support me” and I’m a skeptic when it comes to stuff like that so I was like “HEY!” to see if he would turn and he didn’t. Then I was like, okay I’ll use my sign language to see if this is legit (I know, I know, I should have more faith in humanity and honest people) and so he came back and the conversation went as follows:

Hello I’m Sarah, do you sign?
yes, I sign. my name is Oscar
please repeat more slowly
o-s-c-a-r
nice to meet you oscar. I am learning ASL
same. who is this?
this is my friend (I’M DUMB AND FORGOT TO SIGN CELINA’S NAME.)
nice to meet you friend
>we each give him 2 dollars
thank you
thank you oscar, nice to meet you
same

If I could go back I would do a few things differently, but it ROCKED! one of the best feelings ever, seriously. I will treasure that keychain.
