Today at work I totally had a legit conversation with a man (who I found out is named Fernando) and it was so cool! Ahh! I did lock up a little bit and forget basic words (I couldn’t remember ‘regresar’ for the life of me… what the heck!) but it was really fun :)

Today I went to a Spanish concert for a field trip and I got chosen as a volunteer to go onstage and it ended up being a Spanish tongue twister contest and I won out of the 4 people :)

Then afterwards I got my picture taken with the singer (Justo Lamas) and he said I had a “very good accent” and he asked me some other Spanish related questions but I don’t really know what happened haha

I have to read Chronicle of a Death Foretold for english over the summer so today at the library I picked it up en espanol and I hope to read the english and spanish versions concurrently and hopefully that will help me get back in the swing of things for Spanish 5.

I think I’m going to only get worse this year though. I just wish I could give certain mujeres the gift of sanity.

There’s this guy that doesn’t speak english that has come by my work like 3 times and everytime I get really nervous because I’m the only one that can remotely communicate with him and yesterday he came up there and found me and asked me if we had any peppers (en espanol) and I told him to hang on for a second while I inquired and then I came back and told him that we were out of peppers and wouldn’t be getting any more in until next spring… all in Spanish!

only problem is, after that happened, I asked if he needed anyONE else rather than anyTHING else… I think it got awkward… he said thanks and walked away.

I got a 9/10 on my Spanish oral final and a 9/10 on my writing final and a 96 on my semester vocab and I’ve yet to hear how grammar went but I feel good about it :)

A few weeks ago I was ice skating and there was a little girl who kept falling down all by herself and it was really sad. I heard her speak Spanish and when she fell I went to help her and she didn’t understand English so I said “dame la mano” I dont’ know if that was the proper Spanish because I get confused with articles and body parts but she got the idea and she held onto my hand and I picked her up and took her against the wall. It was special :)

Senora Hitt says that my speaking has improved :]

Today I recounted 2 stories to her en espanol.

I just need to work on direct and indirect pronouns and irregular verbs and my speaking will speed up a lot I think.

I love Spanish so much :)

Siempre por siempre tu seras mi amor!

I really need to learn how to type accent marks.
I love the song “Siempre Por Siempre”
We sang it in Spanish a few weeks ago and I like this picture of Pepe (Seth), Lolita (me), y Carla (Michelle) singing it. :)

Monday in Spanish after I finished my test I was reading this book called “The Pocket Aquinas” (which is really good by the way) and I have been annotating it like crazy and I decided to annotate in Spanish and translate some of my favorite key lines and other comments into Spanish and I told Sra. Hitt and she said “You truly love Spanish, don’t you… I can tell you just have a lot of passion for it.” and she looked at me with a smiling “You go Lolita!” expression. It made me feel so good :]

I really do love Spanish. Something about it is so simple. Not like the class is easy… even though it is… but like the language in itself. I was annotating a section on “Beauty, the Arts, and Theology” in my book and there was a line about how God is the Creator and Cause of all beauty in itself yadda yadda but in Spanish it seemed so simple and certain. Dios es la Causa de belleza. Whether or not my grammatical structure is correct doesn’t really matter to me at this point, but simple things like that are just so mmmmmmmmm!

I have decided to take my IB Spanish test after year 4 instead of year 5 because I cannot tolerate another year of a so-so learning environment.

On a lighter note, today I successfully spoke to my teacher en espanol, which I have not been doing much this year. I get so angry in there that I do not feel like speaking, but I’m going to get back into the habit of doing so.
