I wasn’t sure if my idea of “mentor” is the same as what it actually is so I looked it up…
“a trusted counselor or guide.”
well that wasn’t what I intended.
I think I have achieved this by my definition which is helping others learn and assuming responsibility to do so and so yep. I feel good about what I did. I read to the special needs class at school every week and it was so rewarding. I got to know the 5 kids and I just love them! This is definitely something I will never forget and hope to do again!

I’m not exactly sure if I even know what a mentor is…
but my idea of a mentor is like a role model or someone you can turn to for advice and, if that is what a mentor is, then I guess youth directors qualify as mentors, and in that case I HAVE THE BEST MENTORS EVER!
I tell Deanna and Brenda more than I tell my best friends I think… THEY’RE SO COOL! :)
Yesterday in P.E., a class that I am in solely for the athletic credit, we had a free day and all the boys were playing basketball and such and so I was just sitting in the bleachers.
There are 2 girls in my class period that have special needs and their helper was absent today and one of the girls went to a hoop and started to play basketball by herself.
I went over and played with her and gave her rebounds back to her and then the other girl came over and started to play too. Then she told me that I “would be a really fun peer helper.” That made me feel really good. It isn’t exactly mentoring, but it is helping people, and I always thought those two things went hand in hand. I may consider being a peer helper next year, I think that would be a really great opportunity.
