but I’m starting up again slowly. By Monday I’m back on full steam!

Needs more focus 2 months ago

It’s not automatic for me.

When I think about it a lot, I manage to work from my action list, but left on autopilot I do not…

Processing however is becoming ingrained, and that’s good to see!

Attention drives behavior 2 months ago

I have been paying attention to organizing my life and it seems to be working.

One of the things I did last week at my weekly review was take some of the web-surfing that I do regularly and assign it do different days of the week. That way I know I’ll keep tabs on that item, but don’t feel the need to do it daily—especially good for sites where I often get stuck for a long time. Now each day I know which sites I’m supposed to visit (a blog to update, a forum to check in with, Reader to clean out, etc). It’s made my surfing more productive.

I’m still refining the to-do list, but it’s been active & working well for me most days. More and more back-of-my-mind stuff is being captured there. My someday-maybe list has grown a lot, but that’s fine.

Even my home inbox is finally serving it’s purpose. It’s a bit scary because there is now an area that I REALLY need to go through regularly, but it’s easier than having piles all over the place.

This has been very helpful 2 months ago

I have been more serious about implementing GTD (Getting Things Done, book by David Allen) in the past week than over the past 2 years.

I use the web-based ‘Toodledo’ for my to-do list because it syncs to my iphone and I can see it via web on both mac (home) & PC (work).

I worked out my top 10 goals & implementation plans in the Best Year Yet (BYY) process & made sure they are all reprsented as projects in GTD & in my to-do list.

To make sure I’m working on these Top 10 goals I set up a simple check-off system at joesgoal.com and I’ve found it really motivating.

I still need some work on project planning, but I’ve started working on a few things that have been on hold for a long time, and some things that were always on my to-do list but I never did I finally moved to my someday-maybe list.

Today I actually organized what I worked on by the energy I had, which was really helpful.

I’m feeling good about things – organized, in control, getting on top of nagging issues.

It’s a relief.
