marking this as done  — 5 months ago

because
1. i am at uni now, which means insane amounts of walking to get to all the lectures/tutes, PLUS i am public transporting it – meaning i walk a lot to get to stations/stops
2. i am trying to play sport regularly, handball squash and working on netball.
3. i cant be bothered to write about this every day, and i dont want it to sit there, when it’s the type of goal that goes on forever

This doesn´t really happen  — 6 months ago

I make an effort to add incidental exercise into my day, but planned exercise seems to fall away unless it´s with a team or I am otherwise committed.
I don´t know whether to mark it as done, because i am now concious of extra walking and always take stairs instead of lifts and escalators etc
Im not sure about how everything works at uni either, but id like to join a gym, and i want to play handball, squash, netball and indoor soccer in that order depending on the times.

Not exactly daily,  — 7 months ago

but I´m trying. It was supposed to be 3x a week, but I highly doubt it will ever be so often. I´ll aim for twice.

I run for the “Cooper Test”, which I learned about while training with NÛK. It´s where you run as far as you can for 12 minutes. My goal has been 2km since about September 2007, however we only did the test every month in Nuuk.

I had a three week break over Christmas (hehe), but
Tuesday 8th Jan – 1,85 km in 12 min, avge speed 9,25 km/h
Thursday 10th Jan – 2.19 km in 12 min, avge speed 10,95km/h

So yay finally achieved the goal, it will now go up to 2,5km in 12 min. This is actually quite exciting as I never would have believed that I could run either 2km or for 12 minutes .¨

Of course there´s always incidental exercise, and I walk places that are a few km away for this purpose, but this is mainly what I do along with various sit ups/push ups for exercise.

At the moment I have handball on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday for about 3 hours each session and I walk a bare minimum of at least half an hour a day each week day, plus an extra hour on handball days to get to the hall and back. The days I don’t have handball I do sit ups, push ups etc in my room before I sleep.

The only day I risk not doing anything is Sunday

being forced to helps...  — 11 months ago

at the moment i’m an au pair in greenland and the twin one-year-olds i look after require two walks a day or they will not sleep (and they really really need to sleep twice during the day).
So I have a route and i walk it which is 1-2 hours a day. I have also joined a handball team and we train 10 hours a week and any other time i want to buy anything or go into the ‘town’ or handball training i have to walk about 20 minutes each way.
So there is some solid daily exercise!
