So i measured myself today  — 2 months ago

after not having measured myself in a while and have stayed the same apart from losing 5cm round my stomach. So, not bad considering I havent been doing much exercise. Need to do more.

how exciting!  — 3 months ago

someone has also decided to try this goal!

conquered my fears  — 5 months ago

turns out it is not entirely bad news!

i have gained 1cm on my bust and 2!! on my waist but lost 0.5 and 1 cm from arms, 0,5 from the most sticky-out part of my stomach, and 1,5 from my left thigh. Strange. All up i have lost 18,5 cm. If you ignore the minus numbers double minusing to diminish my total it is 21cm (my right arm has become wider since i started measuring)

Right now my ratios are
Hip to waist : 0.78 (I want to get to 0.7)
Bust to waist : 1.31 (I want to get to 1.5)
Bust to hip : (1.02) (anything more than 1 is fine)

i am scared to measure!  — 5 months ago

haven´t been exercising much because of work – but work also means that i don’t eat nearly as much junk. So.

i have started to play squash  — 5 months ago

I have been neglecting my exercise recently, and therefore havent dared to measure myself in a little while. And also especially in the last week I have been getting pretty frustrated because I actually couldnt exercise because of my stupid stupid toe.
But squash is really fun and there is the added incentive of a hunky german to play with :D
So hopefully the measurements will be ok when I next measure!

hot stuff  — 6 months ago

It´s funny I was convinced that I would put on weight over Christmas – ie I stopped exercising regularly when I left Greenland (29.11.07) and increased my alcohol intake considerably (lots of parties and also much much much much much cheaper in other countries), as well as just general overeating because it was Christmas although I tried to watch myself.

The latest stats?
Since I started measuring all the way back in August I´ve lost 20,5 cm about 1/3 of what I would like to lose.

I have lost 3 cm on my bust (this is fine with me! I don´t want to lose much here!), 7 on my waist and 5 on my hips, which is keeping me on track for an hourglass figure.

Right now my ratios are
Hip to waist : 0.77 (I want to get to 0.7)
Bust to waist : 1.343 (I want to get to 1.5)
Bust to hip : (1.02) (anything more than 1 is fine)

I weighed myself a bit, and I know you can´t compare when the scales are different. So if I think back to November 06 the last time I use these scales, then I think I´ve lost about 5kg. But most important is the measurements!

pleasant surprise  — 9 months ago

I started measuring myself when I came up to Greenland as I was interested to see if I would lose weight but there were no scales. I started to play handball as well as walking a lot.

I measured myself yesterday and so far (in a bit more than a month) I’ve lost 10 cm – most notably 4cm from my waist. That was nice.

I think it’s important to focus on measurements because you can track each area of your body to see what it’s doing and check ratios ie hip to waist, waist to bust and bust to waist to see your proportions.

Right now my ratios are
Hip to waist : 0.78 (I want to get to 0.7)
Bust to waist : 1.30 (I want to get to 1.5)
Bust to hip : (1.01) (anything more than 1 is fine)

So. I have a bit to do, but I have really decided that I want to lower these ratios for my health (and appearance!), and so will make an effort to go to every training session and walk briskly every day, as well as eating properly – not denying myself food, but making sure that I eat a good breakfast and don’t snack much and healthily. I’m not drinking alcohol either, this is important because I usually drink alcohol with soft drink and/or juice. I’m also trying to eat lots of vegetables and protein and cut down on portion size.

I also heard that fat has something like 4x more calories than carbohydrates (not sure if it’s true) but this means no more 38% fløde havarti or at least not a whole slice.

Only thing is I’m a bit worried about what will happen if/when I finally do weigh myself. Will I be disappointed? And I’m also thinking if fat cell numbers are decided by now (I’m 18) then it will be a massive amount of work to reduce the numbers… won’t they just grow back again quickly? In any case I’d like to tone up – this is more important that actual weight loss but that would definitely be nice too.

**Oh yeah, another reason to lose some dress sizes is that all the clothes in Nuuk Genbrug (second hand clothes shop) are all size small and medium… There has been some truly fantastic stuff I’ve found there that I’ve had to leave because I think it’s too tight.
