Write more

does writing papers and essays count?

I have started a career related blog, but haven’t put anything on it for a while thanks to writing finals. Hmmm…

updating my blog pretty regularly. Not sure if it counts as writing as I write nonsense and these queries on myself and where I am going. All very ridiculous, but it makes me feel better and if people happen across it and leave a comment or two, then more yay for me.

So…progress?

I’m actually doing something with this goal! I’m writing more! My blog is current – I am commenting on other people’s blog’s and I have given myself a large paper pad and a lovely blue ballpoint pen to write with when I go on vacation next week so I will write, no matter when where or what!

I am glad at least I’m making progress, however minimal, on this one!

...that my goal should be to write a book. And with the help of Nanowrimo in November, I probably (let’s face it, hopefully will). The key for me is to continue to write, even if it comes in the form of nonsensical vignettes about the people sitting across from me on the subway. I do wonder what they are thinking when they are looking at the Spanish-translation ad’s for immigration lawyers or the “freelancer’s union”.

But I digress.

I think by coming onto this site I am slowly getting a feel for writing more, even if it isn’t a traditional format. But I believe that I am not the first person to think that they should take all their blogging and turn it into a book. And I am sure someone will tell me that there is already several books out there like that. In either case, I am working on this goal and it’s not something I expect to cross off my list any time soon…work in progress (like my life).

writing my goals on this site is one form of writing…although not nearly enough for my 50,000 word novel that is supposed to be exploding out of my mental genius (yeah, right). Although, you never know.

I tried and failed for the past two years with respect to the National Novel Writing Month competition (www.nanowrimo.org). I think this is a fantastic venture and gives a kick in the butt of all us wafflers who say they should write a novel, and have so many good ideas but just end up procrastinating. I am going to buckle down and do it and hopefully it’ll be relatively coherent. If not, I wrote a novel ! grin
