...finally in grad school. Pursuing my degree in Strategic Communications at Columbia University. :)
It’s tough, writing a paper at the moment (well, after this moment I’ll continue) and it’s utterly worth every nail-biting, nerver-wracking moment.

I finally received my acceptance letter! I replied and now I am officially accepted! I am ecstatic!!!!
I have my graduate school interview tomorrow with the only school I am seriously considering. They asked me to come in – now, I realize that with the increasing competitiveness of certain programs it is becoming mandatory to interview candidates prior to acceptance. This means that getting an interview doesn’t mean you’re going to get the gig.
Although I want the gig, I really, really, REALLY want the gig.
I need all the positive energy out there, so if anyone is reading this…throw some spare positivism my way if you can. I will most definitely reciprocate! :)
I sent in my application about two weeks ago…if I hear before July 13, I’m in. If not, I’m not.
The Summary Statement has been sent to various proofreaders for comments and final inspiration. Hopefully they’ll have positive comments and not “I think you might want to re-write this.” Because that would be a bummer.
Next step – collect the recommendations.
recommendations! And my GRE scores! Now just have to finish my summary statement and I can get the ball really rolling on this one!
So scared, but happy that I’m finally doing it!
an open house for one of the local universities and it was so worth it. The program seems to be tailor-made for me, but I’m a little worried that I might not have the qualifications to be accepted. Not the academic quals, those are in the bag. But this is a very hands-on program and they actually want people with a lot of relevant work experience. Now, I’ve been working a long time…but relevant to my career goals? I dunno about that one. So I’m freaked out once again.
...finally started to work on my summary statement. I think I have the introduction and the “hook” down, but I start getting a little vague as it comes to the “inspiration to pursue this particular degree” and then how to tie in my experiences (which are weird and wacky with respect to the degree). The application is technically not due until next year, but I think if I nail this one, I can focus on the ones that are due this year. Speaking of which, I have to memorize those deadlines!
I really want to get into the program that has a later app deadline because it is a part-time graduate degree and then I can work. I know, I know…insane, but I know people who have done it and if they managed to, who says I wont?
