...as it gets you a free ride on the bus sometimes. I know that to many that doesn’t sound like much, but my bus costs $5 one-way and is Express. This means that I can walk a block, get on and sleep for an hour or so until I get home. If not, I’d have to trudge to the subway…take two trains and a bus home. Argh!
Anyways, I always like to smile at my bus driver (yes, I have a regular) and what do you know, the other day I had only a buck on my MetroCard and he let me on. Ah! It’s the simple pleasures I tell you!

...smiled at a coworker while coming off the elevator at lunch. I normally smile at work, but this one was different because I was coming back from lunch to the daily grind. I hope it made their day a little more pleasant. I know I felt encouraged.
I’m going to try smiling while walking. Either people will smile back, or think I am high. Either or, it’ll make me feel better.

...to give these tight, quick, uncomfortable smiles in public mainly because I am uncomfortable expressing a lot of emotion amongst strangers. I have been getting better…these tight smiles are only recent, before I’d just have my bulldog look ok and march through the streets (and life) without a glance to the side.
And I actually do have a pretty nice smile, I wish I could use it more often. But my teeth are enormous.
