Finish my PhD

I got the thesis receipt yesterday. In the eyes of the Institute, I am done. The feeling is one that I haven’t had in years!

I rocked the defense. There is now a champagne bottle on the wall with my name on it. It’s still too surreal to absorb.

All I need to do now is incorporate the second batch of corrections, rewrite the abstract, redo a figure and that’s that: I finished my PhD.

237 pages down.

I’m starting to get the revisions, practice defense is on Friday, and the real thing a week from Tuesday!

Committee needs the thesis by the 22^nd

2 Chapters left.

His Bad Self has given the go-ahead for an end of April defense. The thesis stands at 132 pages, two and a half (heavy) chapters short of completion… and if he and I don’t figure out a really friggen stupid problem in viscoelastic rheology damn soon, I’m gonna be really up the creek.

Thesis is at 103 pages and counting.

Projected completion date: April 18^th.

Just met with him yesterday to talk about the G WORD. He said that it’s very likely that I’ll be done with labwork within a year and can start writing then! He was quite pleased with the way things are going, and also had some very nice things to say about the way my thesis will turn out! Quite a relief, I must say.

Why won’t these #$#$ experiments work????

The boss man (my advisor) says a year and a half. Just need working experiments!
