pay off my debts

I’m lucky in that I’m definitely not in over my head, but I still feel stuck. I can’t afford to take a job where I get paid less. So I’m trapped in this career at least. I could still potentially move somewhere else in the US if I am willing to stay in this line of work.

I took a big step backwards with this. I had bought a motorcycle back in June that ended up having a bunch of problems. Long story short, I ended up trading it for a brand new motorcycle (my dream bike) so that it would be under warranty for a long time and I wouldn’t have to worry about it. My finances are stretched thinner with the amount of money that I want to still save every month, but it is definitely manageable.

I’m teaching myself not to buy every little thing that I want the hard way. Nothing like being young and stupid and spending more money than you should.

I do wish I could go talk to myself 2 years ago when my only debt was my student loan and convince myself to pay that off and then save up for a car after that. Hindsight is 20/20, so the best I can do is pay off my car and bike loans as quickly as possible and move on from there.

I just traded in my Murano for an Altima. I save nearly $100 a month on payments. The Altima is one year older, has more miles, and is not nearly as fancy, but it will be a good car.

I don’t need an SUV. I also would like to cut down the monthly payment to save some money. I probably shouldn’t have bought my motorcycle, but I did, and I like it. My car is an easy target to save some money. I’ll take a hit on the trade-in, but I should be able to easily lower my payment by around $100 a month on my car by getting something way cheaper. I love my car, but it is a gas hog and expensive. I’ve had it less than a year, but I’m probably going to get rid of it soon.
