make full use of my Netflix subscription

This wasn’t as good as I expected it to be. Sort of disappointing. I didn’t like Schmidt at the beginning, and really didn’t find him sympathetic, even at the end. Oh well. Next?

Yeah, the last episode is this weekend. Doesn’t matter – I was just pointed toward it a couple weeks ago. I’ve watched half of the first season; just passed those DVDs off to someone else, and should be getting the next one from Netflix tomorrow.

That will keep my Netflix queue moving for awhile, I guess.

I love Almodovar. Haven’t seen any of his films in years, but watched this one last night. Much more thought-provoking than some of his earlier work, more complex, less campy. I really appreciate his take on gender/gender roles, too – giving women more intelligence and men more complexity than typical US “Me grunt. Me shoot things” Mel Gibson-esque crap. The friendship between two presumably straight men in this film is just not something you’d see in US cinema.

I’m finally finding my 3 current “in-house” Netflix DVDs. One’s one I watched & was going to drop off for my mom to see – months ago. She’s since had it climb up her own queue & has seen it, but my copy’s been languishing under piles of crap on my desk.

Tomorrow it gets sent back. Along with another one, if I can manage to watch it tonight. It was part of a series that I never really got into – maybe I shouldn’t watch it. It’s not like I need to “get the value” out of it – it’s been on my desk for months!
