I’d like to say the scale lied, but I got sick just days after I checked and the doctor’s office scale was only one pound off from mine … ARGH! I have succumbed to my wife’s pleading and we both joined a weight loss program … talk about humiliating, having some skinny-100-pounds-only-when-soaking-wet-twenty-something telling me about how I really need to lose weight and that it’s easy and should “come naturally” ...
I politely refrained from telling her that I’d sick all six of my kids on her like a pack of pirhanna and signed on the dotted line.
The good news is that I’m not doing the whole “diet” thing … this is a program that teaches you how to eat better, find healthier substitutes for the things you love, and helps you learn to cook better … that’s half my problem right there. I love to bake (cookies, cakes, pies, pastries) and then, of course, they can’t go to waste. If I could only channel this power for “good” and learn to cook fantastic (yet healthy) meals. :-)
Well, four pounds of me is gone … not much, but it’s a start … trying to get out more often and run with my friends at work … and not have that extra cookie or go out for ice cream on “those days” when they come. :-)
Now to start working those weights and eating more salads …
