changed the savings plan a little bit: now it’s 15% of paychecks, 20% of gifts…and somehow I’m already up to $160! I guess it’s because I have lots of family members who were a little late with the birthday gifts this year (and because I’m working a fair amount this summer). I should be getting another paycheck tomorrow, so that’ll boost it even more :D

I’m immensely jealous of all of my friends who get to study abroad – it won’t ever be an option for me, between cheerleading and a chemistry major, even though I’m getting a concentration in German as well.
That said, I’ve decided that I’m going to go to Europe the summer between graduation and grad school.
Starting this week, I’m putting away $60 from each TA paycheck I get, and $40 from each work-study paycheck, plus 20% of all the gift money I get. For now I’m just gonna store it in cash in my room, but at some point I’ll probably open a new savings account for it. Hopefully in two years that will be a pretty decent chunk of money (plus I’ll have other money saved up for general spending on whatever). I guess if I start earning more for TAing (probably next summer), then I’ll put away more from those checks. Likewise, if my work-study checks start getting really small this semester, then I may have to adjust.
Regardless, it seems like a decent system? Seems like that’d be $4800 purely for a Eurotrip…
I wonder how much money this will leave me for other stuff?
