The hydrangeas are gorgeous this time of year. Unfortunately, I destroyed many of them searching for my lost cat in the middle of the night.

So please forgive what I have done, but you can’t stay mad at the setting sun. Because we all get tired. I mean eventually, there is nothing left to do but sleep.
The colors in this photo remind me of an egg plant I used to have. Not the kind you eat, but the kind you let grow on your window sill. In a cardboard box, there is a creamy white ceramic egg that sits in a brown terracotta dish. The top of the ceramic egg is gently cracked open with a spoon to reveal soil and a tiny packet of seeds. You plant and water the seeds, then wait patiently for little green sprouts to grow from the top of the egg.
While the rest of the garden is in full bloom, this little sprout just decided to wake from the Earth a few days ago.
There is a bird bath in my yard. The purple salvia that surrounds the bath continues to grow higher and higher, slowly concealing the bath more each day. For some reason unbeknownst to me, the water has been dyed a deep ruby color. I think it might be the sun’s trick. However or for whatever reason the water turned that way, the two colors look beautiful together.
