19 and 20: Skipping Christmas and Paper Towns 3 weeks ago

Skipping Christmas by John Grisham:
I thought I would start the holidays out with this fun read. The movie stays pretty true to the book, though the book is 10x funnier!

Paper Towns by John Green:
What an incredible book! I bought this on a whim while at the book store the other day and I ended up finishing the book two days later. Being in high school myself, I felt that the characters were easy to relate to. I honestly can’t remember the last time I stayed up until 1:30 in the morning reading a book. This is easily the best book I have read all year.

#18 Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling 4 weeks ago

Bought the British version while in London this summer and finally got around to reading it. I think I’ve read the first of the series at least five or six times now. It was really fun picking out all of the little details that are different from the US version! Also: I love the British cover!

#17 Love by Leo Buscaglia 4 weeks ago

I borrowed this from a friend after she recommended it to me. It’s a really uplifting and feel good book that’s simply about love. It’s a bit outdated in some respects, but the message of it will be relevant throughout time. I think the world would be a better place if everyone read this book.

#16 You're the One That I Want (Gossip Girl #6) by Cecily Von Ziegesar 2 months ago

These books are such a guilty pleasure of mine! I don’t think I have read any of them since last year, so I thought I’d pick up where I left off.

#15 The Book Theif by: Markus Zusak 2 months ago

Wow, this is the first book I have completed in over two months. I have started three other books, but have yet to finish them. I definitely got behind on this goal, but I have made another goal that will hopefully help me achieve this goal. I want to read for at least thirty minutes a day for four weeks straight. Hopefully by then it will be a habit.

This was just an incredible book. I can’t remember the last book I read that I could honestly not put down. I actually stayed up late to read it, and I never ever do that. I usually fall asleep before the book is even opened. Absolutely life-changing. Briefly, it’s the story of a young girl living in Germany during WWII and how she grows up through it. It’s narrated by death, which gives it a unique spin on things. It’s just an incredibly powerful/heartbreaking story.

Update 4 months ago

I’m currently reading:

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert I’ve been working on this one all summer, but it’s divided up into smaller stories, so I think it’s okay that I’m not taking it in all at once.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone I bought a copy of it while in London, so I feel pretty cool saying “Philosopher” instead of “Sorcerer” :) Plus it’s really fun picking out all of the differences in words from the US version to the UK version. My favorite so far is “Shan’t”

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens This one isn’t on my list, at least I don’t think it is, but I just felt like reading something a bit heavier. I started reading A Tale of Two Cities while in Europe and I really liked it, and Great Expectations seems to be a lot easier to follow than A Tale of Two Cities, so I’m really liking it right now!

#14 Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard 4 months ago

This was a quick and easy read. I finished it in two days. It made me want to keep reading, but I don’t know if I am interested enough to read the remaining five books. I just want to know what happens, but I don’t particularly want to take the time to read them all myself. I think six books for a series like this seems a bit much.

#13 My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult 4 months ago

My second Jodi Picoult book- SO good! I can’t wait to see the movie.

#12 Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella 5 months ago

This was a really fun read! Read most of it during the long bus rides throughout Europe- definitely made the time pass by quite nicely. I can’t say if I like the movie better because it’s so different from the book you really can’t compare the two. Either way I thought they were both really fun!

Change of plan... 5 months ago

I just got back from a two week tour of Europe and my book plan has been slightly changed. Europe has influenced my current book interests. ;) I’ll get to updating it later! Also: I thought I was going to get a lot of reading done on the trip, but it turns out all I got done was half of Confessions of a Shopaholic, so I’m a little behind now!
