Two things I’ve already learned from my own personal trainer that are helpful:
1.) Knowing how much encouragement to give and when to give it. When something is clearly challenging for me, he will say “GO!” between each rep and it really helps.
2.) Knowing when to get me to focus on the set. I like that reality check!
3.) Counting reps with his fingers and aloud.
I got a new job so I set down the ACE book for a while to let the new job absorb. I am sad that I’m not working on this goal right now, but it would just be too much right now.
I will pick it up again in December.
I’m going to be finishing Chapter 8 within the next 2 hours. Then I will reward myself w/ a nice cup of tea. :-)
I’m going to work on Chapter 9 tonight, too.
There is no stopping me. I decide to do something, I do it.
I fell off the study wagon but I’m getting back on RIGHT NOW. I’m taking a break from work to STUDY.
The only thing I can control is the NOW and the NOW I am working toward what I want!
I will finish 6 this week. Chapter 5 was short (less than 15 pages) and Chapter 6 is quite a bit longer (33 pages). I only have 20 pages left to read on that. Hopefully I can finish 6 tomorrow and then begin working on finishing 7 this week.
My new goal is to finish 10 chapters by the end of June.
I’m on a roll!! I just finished Chapter 4 during my lunch break at work. It helped that it was on one of my favorite topics: nutrition.
Chapter 5 is a lot shorter than the other chapters so I should finish it tonight. Then I’m over 1/2 way to my goal and its not even mid-June yet!
I just finished Chapter 3 this morning. I am working on Chapter 4 already. I’m so excited to read it because it is regarding one of my favorite topics: Nutrition.
In other news, I think that I need to analyze my pace in reading and studying these chapters and determine how long it will take me to get through the book. There are 18 chapters. I started working on May 20. So in 14 days I’ve read 3 chapters. At that pace, it would take me 84 days to complete the whole book…or almost 3 months. I don’t know if I can wait that long! I need to step up my progress to at least 1 chapter per week. 1.5 Chapters per week would be ideal. I think that I will set a mini-goal within this goal: if I get to the 1/2 way point in the book-Chapter 9 by June 28th then I will go out to a restaurant that I have totally been wanting to try: Wink on Lamar. We’ll see if I make it!!
I finished Chapter 2 which was all about the Human Anatomy and the five major operating systems in the body: the cardiovascular system, the respiratory system, the nervous system, the skeletal system, and the muscular system.
I will re-visit and study all of the parts of each of these systems. Mostly I need to study the skeletal and muscular systems in greater depth. I have another book to help me do that.
Now I am working on Chapter 3 which is about Biomechanics and Applied Kinesiology. It is interesting, but dense. I am working through it.
Planned study times this week/weekend:
Tomorrow at 10 AM w/ R and E
Tuesday at 6 AM w/ R and E
Also, on the testing front I am right about to find out WHEN I can test and what I need to do to sign up/register for the test. I’m very excited.
I finished Chapter 1 of the ACE certification book this weekend. I’m already into Chapter 2. Granted, there are like 16 or 18 chapters, but hey, it is progress. One small step done many times equals (eventual) success! AND the plus side of all of this is I AM HAPPY. I am going for what I want! I am going after my career. It is fun to be happy again.
I hope to get at least 2 more Chapters read this week!

So, now that I am done with my Ironman, I can really focus on studying to become a personal trainer. I am looking forward to tackling those books and totally rocking the test! I know this is what I meant to give to the world. I am first and foremost a motivator and I would just LOVE to help every person that is ready to receive help become healthier and happier through fitness.
My partner is currently studying upwards of 4 hours a day and so I know I can match that and get stuff done, too!
