I have been asked to do TWO volunteer photo shoots! 4 years ago

One for our church, where I had to pose 8 people and take pictures of two fancy rooms, then turn it into a photomontage.
You can see one of them here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/justsharing/19349466/
Now I’m starting to volunteer at an art studio, to take studio-quality photos of their art works for posting on the web. I’ll show some of that once I clear up the copyright issues.
I’m so Happy!!! Volunteering is a GREAT way to improve your skills.

My photos seem to be getting better. 4 years ago

More people on flickr are noticing and commenting on them! This is very rewarding and enjoyable. I’ve been taking about 1/2 hour a day just looking the the photos of others, and making the best I find “favorites”. I can then look at this group at any time for inspiration. See what you think of my photos (and they are FREE to download & make great computer wallpaper): http://www.flickr.com/photos/bestrated1/

I'm so Excited!!! 4 years ago

I just got my application approved to have a “booth” (more like a table) at the annual “FLOWER FESTIVAL at the Cathedral. Since many of my photos are of flowers, It’s a perfect match. It’s not a huge festival, but it’s a start. Now to frame more of my photos!! To keep things affordable, I’ve been able to get most of my frames for $3.00 or less. My 8” x 10” photos I was able to get at Walgreens on sale for $2.00 each ($100 investment for 50 photos). I’m not matting them, just sticking them in a frame. By keeping my costs down, I’ll be able to offer FRAMED 8” x 10” photos for only $20.00. 5” x 7” photos I got on sale for $1.00 and all the frames for $1.00 (try Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Deals, etc.) So my cost is $2.00 and I’ll sell them for $10.00. Buy low, sell cheap!

I've made at LOT of progress in the last 15 months. 4 years ago

I finally have a pro site on FLICKR: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bestrated1/

Having a digital camera is too cool. I like that

  • You never have to worry about $$$ for film
  • I can get about 220 4 megapixel shots on one 512 megabyte chip.
  • I don’t have to pay for development
  • I can print only the good ones
  • I can share them on the “net”
