4 - Harris Beach 6 months ago

Went on a trip to the No Cali and So Ore coast with the girls. We spent one night in the Harris Beach campground. (It was just this last Thursday night. June 18th.) The beach was beautiful and secluded, but very windy. Then again, it seems like much of the Oregon coast tends to be windy when I visit.

Anyhow, so it was the first time the girl or I have ever stayed in a yurt. I think that’s definitely the way to go. I guess I do have something against tents. I’m ok with that.

Also, this was the first time the girls have been to California. We stayed one night in a hotel in Crescent City. It counts as a trip to CA, but not much of one. Sadly, it was only MY second time there as well. Sad, I know.

3 - Beverly Beach 6 months ago

I took the girls to watch their dad get his black belt a weekend or two ago. Since I was already that close to the beach, I figured why not stay and bring the girls home myself on Sunday. It made more sense than driving all the way back home only to drive again the next day (to the half way point) to pick them up.

Anyhow, to make life easy I just slept in the back of the Armada. So much better than messing with a tent. ;)

I didn’t spend much time exploring anything, but it still counts.

2 - Gull Point - Wickiup Reservoir 17 months ago

We camped at Gull Point around nine days ago. Again, we came in pretty late but were lucky enough to find a spot within the campground. You know, maybe I miss spoke when I said I can’t camped since I was a teenager. Somehow it slipped my mind that I came here with my friend B and her sons last year. But we were in a motorcoach, so I would hardly count that. Anyhow, this was my first tent camping trip with my girls.

We enjoyed playing in the water almost our entire trip. B and her entire family were also there, along with another set of friends of theirs.

M and I enjoyed an after dark walk down to the edge of the water as well. The moon reflecting off the calm water made for adequate (and some what romantic) light. It was definitely an enjoyable trip.

1 - Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park 17 months ago

The picture was taken a short walk from our campsite. We came here as a place to stay while trying out sandboarding. We got in so late that we slept in the back of the Armada the first night. We didn’t spend a lot of time looking around at nature, and my goodness this campground was large. Apparently the second largest campground in Oregon. I haven’t bothered to look up the 1st. Anyhow, sadly this trip wasn’t about exploring the nature around us. We spent most of our time at Fred Meyer buying what we forgot and sandboarding. But at least I can say it was the first time I’ve camped since I was a teenager!

why not 17 months ago

I can sadly say I haven’t camped much in my life. In fact, in the last 10 years I’ve only camped twice … both being this summer. Living in the beautiful state of Oregon, I’m embarrassed that I haven’t immersed myself more in its beauty. Day trips to random places are enjoyable, but I want to entangle myself within it beyond that. So, I’ll start with a goal of 25 places, and after I meet that goal I’ll move my number up!
