It is a hybrid of one. This is a Columbine “Black”. My baby bought it for me one day when I was drooling over the gardening magazine.
It’s a black columbine but it looks more purple huh. LOLOL it’s because it’s still a baby. Once the plant matures and has a couple years on it, then the flowers will take on a much darker hue. It will be a dark purple/black.
It’s very beautiful. I ADORE my honey for surprising me like he does.
When I first got it, it was bare root and had no blooms {first picture a week after planting} but it sure is getting big now. Well, okay, it’s not really getting big, it’s a tiny little thing. But it has some pretty precious blooms on it.

I had a wetland garden back home, I can’t grow one here for so many reasons but that does not deter me from loving cat tails as I do.
Countless hours were spent as a child with me spreading the seeds every way as I walked up and down the neighborhood road. They were a staple in my flower arrangements and in constant supply on my drying rack.
A lot of people don’t know that the leaves of the cattail is dried, re hydrated and twisted into a rope. This rope is then used to create rush seats. I used to do this for a living, it’s my greatest love.
If given the chance to weave or any other job, weaving would win. It is calming and very relaxing to me. I used to cut and dry my own and use them when restoring real rush seats for clients. LOL I could talk cattails for hours.

Orange Hawk-weed
These remind me of my grandmother, when we were little we took a bunch from school to plant at her house for grandmothers day. They multiplied and took over the yard, it sure was pretty before it was mowed.

Red clover
OH, such child hood memories with this flowers. I used to make wreaths out of the two different clovers, sometimes I added other summer flowers to my wreath. I would use the smaller white/red ones to make necklaces and bracelets. Huge long chains of clover and daisy’s.
The purple ones I would suck the sweet nectar from them. Sweeter than honey. So man days of summer spent laying on the thick carpet of Kentucky blue grass, staring up into the branches of the Maple Tree wearing my wreath and imaging someone was going to come and love me for always.

I think I’m gonna mix trees up with these.
Weeping Willow is by far my favorite tree ever. I remember planing one when I was 7.
My home before I moved here had three huge ones in my yard. One was in back and while, the kids dad slept {he was on third shift then} I had picnics and play time with the baby.
Sierra had her first birthday under the Willow Tree in the Secret Room.
When Kevin left, a lot of things I loved to do, or took pleasure from. I no longer had time to even think about.
I went from a stay at home mom, to working 12-14 hours 6 days a week for almost two years, before I slowed down.
I remember a day so clear in my mind, it was fall, but the leaves had not fallen yet. The kids daddy just got them for the weekend, I was suppose to go out. For what ever reason, I walked to the back yard and looked at that Willow.
There was such an amazing sunset, my I had the most beautiful view of the sun. It was only a month or two before I was to move to Texas. {I never wanted to leave my home}
I made a couple calls so my evening and night was free. I was going no where.
I walked to the secret room under the willows, where I felt safe and so many of my memories were tied.
That is where I shattered into a thousand pieces.

At my Home, I had a wetland area {LOLOL.. My front yard, 2/3 anyway} I had some amazing pussy willow and cattail.
When my house was broken into those times during the black years. The day I had surgery {cancer stuff} My father drove from Texas and him, my brother, X, an Uncle and my cousin. Spent hours cutting down the trees along my property line near the road.
I was so sad and upset, but my father would not hear my tears. He just wanted the police to be able to see my house from the street. My house was pretty far off the road and although I had a security light, you could see nothing from the road, not until you were almost half way down the drive.
So they performed a major {break my heart} whack job, and put in motion censor lights… I lived in an airport and yes, animals will make the lights go off.
I digress:
The pussy willows grew back eventually. They were so beautiful, I used to gather huge huge bouquets for my sisters {they didn’t live in MI. So it was a good surprise for them}
I never used curtains {no one lived close to me} but for my living room, I used a tree branch for the curtain rod and I hung flowers and branches {pussy willow} form it to dry, then I made creations for my friends and family from my dried flowers.

After the hack job {they only trimmed my Weeping Willow that was in the middle of the front yard}
I decided to plant me some Black Pussy-Willow. They are so beautiful, this picture, none of the pictures I saw did this plant justice. The twigs, catkins, the shape it grows to. An amazing plant I will have to have again.

I had these in mass under a bush in my back yard. They are amazing the flowers open from the bottom to top.
Beautiful colour and they are great in a wildflower bouquet.

Humming Birds just LOVE this flower. I loved the bright shock of red they added to my gardens. It was especially pretty when my chocolate or black flowers were blooming

This flower just steals my heart. I never regarded it as a weed. It’s from the carrot family. It’s a wild carrot, it was brought over from Europe as a medicinal plant and just naturalized becoming a weed to most.
I love it so much because each flower is different. Each cluster has it’s own shape and form. They are open and airy, hundreds of flowers create one large flower. Usually in the center is one lone coloured flower, purple most of the time, but you can find pink.
Awesome when you pick a huge bunch of them and add them to other wild flowers in bouquets. The Leaves are just beautiful when pressed and used when making candles. They are beautiful on dark colored candles.
