Here we go! 10 months ago

I’ve had my pancakes, eaten my last chocolate bar … now let the fast begin!

My experience last year was that the first 4 weeks were tough, and i was very grateful for the support of others on 43 things. After 4 weeks i lost the cravings, and when Easter came around i found i didn’t even want chocolate anymore!

Right now i am again addicted to chocolate, so it should be fun trying to give up again! We can do it, and it will be worth it!

When does Lent officially start? 10 months ago

The big question is: are we allowed chocolate tomorrow?

I think we are. I think Wednesday is the first day to go without.

Kind of dreading it. I’ve managed to eat up all the chocolate in the home, so i’ll probably buy one small chocolate bar tomorrow and that will be my last until Easter!

Done! 21 months ago

The weird thing is, i don’t even fancy eating any today, although i could. This is a huge surprise to me, because i was so addicted before! Maybe i just don’t trust myself enough!

Chocolate tomorrow!!!! 21 months ago

Oh dear i am way too excited about this! Perhaps i will think chocolate is horrible when i try it tomorrow!

43 days!!! 21 months ago

This is actually my 43rd day! I began on Wednesday 6th February and it is now Thursday 20th March.

It’s weird, i always assumed there were exactly 40 days in Lent. I think undercover_laura is right that Sundays don’t count. Some people have even told me you’re allowed to have a day off on Sundays. Which is good because my chocolate ‘accident’ was on a Sunday, lol! :)

Umm, i was actually really tempted to have some chocolate today. I had a blood test and my usual way of cheering myself up is to eat chocolate. But as far as i’m concerned it’s still Lent … so i guess i’m going to end up doing this for 46 days.

My partner is going to make me a lovely chocolate mousse cake to celebrate when it’s over! :)

Accidental chocolate :( 21 months ago

I had a mishap at the weekend. I met some random strangers (don’t ask!) who invited us in for coffee … and a caramel wafer biscuit. Being polite, and also slightly overwhelmed by the randomness of the situation, i bit into the biscuit before realising – OH NO – it’s covered in chocolate!!!

Having started it i thought i’d better finish … and i am not going to give up the goal. It wasn’t that i was craving it – it was honestly a genuine accident! Anyway, it wasn’t much chocolate, really … not like a whole bar of solid chocolate! Just a little coating!

Can i be redeemed?! ;)

An encouraging Ticker 22 months ago

22 days for me so far! :) At Lauras suggestion i am going to try for 43 days rather than the traditional 40 of Lent.

Arrrghh - extreme chocolate temptation!! 22 months ago

My manager has just brought in a huge box of Terrys All Gold and placed them right next to me!!!!

The willpower required this morning is going to be quite extreme. Here’s hoping my greedy colleagues come and gobble them all up very quickly!

Boredom = Chocolate cravings 22 months ago

I am just discovering the hard way that boredom levels are directly correlated to chocolate cravings. The last 3 weeks have been fine because i’ve had a lot of interesting work to do. Sadly now i have run out of mentally stimulating tasks, and my chocolate cravings are through the roof!!

Progress 22 months ago

Today i have noticed the first sign that i can break this chocolate addiction. Today, for the first time, i find i can think about chocolate without consequently wanting to eat it. This is definitely good progress!
