dance in the rain again

August 2005, after a family get-together thingy.
I was out in New Boston, about 20 miles outside of Detroit, give or take a few. It was warm and sunny all day, but the evening brought a cold breeze in and some clouds. After a volleyball game and a tournament of lawn darts (The family calles them “jarts”, something our Scottish grandfather loved to play), I went out with three of my cousins. They were in kilts, handling claymores and axes, I had my camera. We spent a good hour and a half, 2 hours shooting pictures of them allfgrubbed up and looking to find a war to fight. The clouds were making it hard to shoot good pictures becuase they were crowding the sun and not letting enough light in. So we quit that, put the “toys” up and the boys played some vollyball in their kilts.
Everyone was starting to pack up now that it was sprinkling and everyone was stuffed to the gills with food. As the evening set on the breeze left, but also left the clouds. It started raining a little heavier as the sun set, but there was still some warm air left. I started wandering the yard in the rain. My aunt didn’t want me in the house since I was somewhat wet from the rain, and there were already enough relatives in the house. So I jsut started dancing. The rain was warm, a warm breeze picked up where the cool one left off, and the ashphalt driveway was very warm under my barefeet. I jumped in the puddles, twirled under the clouds, and had a water fight with one of the boys who was in a kilt earlier. By the end of the night I was soaked through to the skin. The aunt that drove me home put a towel down on our seats becuase she was also soaked through to the skin. I went home, took a picture of me with my rain-dancing afterglow, and swore to do that again sometime.
