pay off my student loans

I consolidated my 2 undergrad loans and my minimum monthly payment is $159.12. Right now I am paying $210.12 a month in an attempt to pay the loan off quicker, but that is just with my husband bringing in money. Thankfully, I too will be helping to “bring home the bacon” in August. The plan for now is to up my monthly payments by 100-200 dollars. We really want to not have a student loan to worry about. It is the only debt that we have. It will be so nice when we have that extra money back in our pockets.

$1000 down! Honestly, it is taking a long time to pay this loan off. I am almost down to $21,000. Which isn’t bad I guess. My husband and I calculated it all though, and discovered that is would only take 15,600 Euros to pay off my school loan. It could be that we could take out a loan here and just go ahead and pay it off. He has checked into it and it would take him less than 10 years to pay it off with his job. That is less time than it would take me to pay it off at the rate I am going now. Who knows…all I know is that I want to be done with it!

but a little progress is being made. After I consolidated my loans I was left with $24,570.70. Now I am down to $22,920.78. I pay $51 more than my minimum payment a month to help speed things a long a little bit. Since I no longer have credit card payments to worry about, I don’t worry about whether or not I’ll be able to make my loan payment. Thank God for small miracles!

I paid the 2nd payment on one of my loans yesterday, and then I got the booklet for repayment of my other loan just as I was putting the other one in the mail! Oh what joy!

The first payment for my students loans went out in the mail today. So it has begun!!
