When he concentrates too hard and is focusing on something completely then automatically the frontal portion of his tongue automatically protrudes out. Infact as his children I and my brother have both acquired the same subconscious habit.

my dad had a terrible accident when he was around 21. His two wheeler collided with a Truck. The massive impact left his right leg badly damaged including a completely shattered knee cap. His leg had to reconstructed goe the most portion. And even after nearly forty years since that fateful night he is still unable to bend his right leg which restricts his mobility severely.

But the good thing is that he can walk short distances quite comfortably without any external support (cane). But longer distance becomes a major issue with. I am tremendously inspired with the way he has taken such a major mishap in his stride.
