fix up my house

for the summer

today.

One of the students I don’t work with needs extra money, so I hired him to tutor my daughter. It turns out he’s good at fixing things, putting things together, and organizing things. Schezam! I’ve been hiring him to do all the things I can’t do with my arm in a cast…organizing stuff, putting stuff away….and it’s great. He gets extra money…I get some part of civilized life back. Why didn’t I think of this before? You should see the garage he cleaned in 2 hours flat this afternoon!

OUTSIDE- remove the leaves
—sod the yard
—demold the house
—check the rot in the windows, need replacing?
—get a new door
—get a new doorknob
—trim the roses
—get the gates fixed
—repair woodpecker holes
—put up feeders for well-behaved birds
- check the roof, why are critters in there again?- check the back porch, is it rotten?
—get rid of the kids’ toys

KITCHEN
—kitchen light fixture, replace
—fix the track lighting
- clean out the frig well- clean out the round thing and pantry well

DOWNSTAIRS
—paint ceiling in den, water damage?
—ceiling in study, paint color?
—repair wallpaper in dining room
—toilet top in downstairs bath
—shave down the french doors, both sets

MY ROOMS
—repair ceiling in my bath
—check the drainage on the tub and shower
—repair ceiling in my bedroom
—touch up paint
- -get 2 new lamps
—move treadmill to guest room

KIDS
—paint L’s room
—repair closet
—repair nail holes
—staighten fixture
—repair closet
—paint bookshelf
—put curtains up
—put new cabinet up

—S’s room, repair window
—S’s room,light fixture

GUEST
—guest put stuff away
—guest make up new bed
- guest replace curtains
—guest bedspread
—put new curtains up

—get everyrthing out of attic

GENERAL- -get hd tv- -get dvd player- -get cable- -get thing to put tv on

We make progress….

No more visiters at night in my house! Hurrah!

My kids won’t bring their friends here, because we don’t have cable.

Broke down and got a dish. $29.99. May it bring more teenagers to my home. (and the CNN will be spiffy for me.)

are coming to give me an estimate tomorrow. After that, I can figure out how much I can spend on fixing the gates, repainting girl’s room, fixing the caulk, making sure the upstairs bath isn’t leaking between flours, fixing the lights that don’t work, repainting over the cracks, painting the smudges in the ceiling, etc….

a new mattress, for the 1st time in 15 years. Somehow it makes me happy to have a mattress never shared with Ex.

I’m surprised by how good it felt in the store. I’m hoping it’ll improve my sleep.

We will play switcheroo. My old mattress goes to the guest room. The double bed in there becomes my girl’s new bed, which is wonderfully exciting for her. Her own twin mattress will be used to make a daybed/couch in the guest room.
