of exercise with at least 30 minutes cardio training and a 15 minute weight training session. I’ve noticed my mind is getting more alert, I feel stronger, yet, my body needs one to two hours more sleep for proper recovery.
It’s odd, but I’m not doing this to look good or lose weight or even for my health. I’m doing it as a lesson in being disciplined. I truly want to be a disciplined person.

I think this may be the first that I have exercised for 17 days in a row. I am keeping a humble attitude and intend to exercise every day, as long as my body is healthy enough to do so. I am using the turtle approach, slow and steady, for hopefully consistent success. I am tackling fitness one running step at a time…one lat pull-down at a time…one hamstring stretch at a time…one playlist at a time, hehe.

Each interval training session is averaging about 45 minutes this week. I’m starting to actually want to run uphill and noticing more in regard to my surroundings…an earthworm easing its way across the road…a butterfly flying in place…two bumblebees communing together. As long as I maintain my health, I have no intention of slowing down.

Why shouldn’t I interval train (walk/run) every single day? It feels right, so I’m going to see how long I can keep it up.
I think what created this new fervor, is being able to listen to music as I run (the nano ipod is just soo manageable), and looking at exercise in a new way:
- Exercise is a privilege! One day if I’m bed bound, I would be kicking myself for not doing it, so I am doing it!
- As Matty pointed out, exercise can be a time to meditate. The combination of taking time with nature and listening to certain songs have brought out some thoughts and feelings I didn’t even realize were there during my sessions and I realized that, yes, this is a form of reflective meditation!
- I am setting the standard of completing seven days straight of a goal (e.g., cardio), as a means of earning the right to begin another permanent fitness habit (e.g., weight train a certain area of the body). This may seem like a long, lengthy process for total conditioning, but my mindset has to see exercise as a privilege. I must not take it for granted anymore. I don’t want to waste the chance to move my body, to feel the air from the atmosphere fill my lungs, to be fit, to feel alive.
