to make ground rules for myself to keep me on track in life. I feel like this will be fun and can help a lot along the way…will simply add a rule to this list as I figure things out (not make new entries—just edit the list):
Rule #1: The ground rules change as you learn; they are fluid.
Rule #2: As much as you want to take care of others, make sure that first you take care of yourself.
Rule #3: Don’t stress if you can help it—not worth it.
Rule #4: Relax and give of yourself freely. It is a healthful way to be, regardless of the reactions from others (irrelevant, really).
Rule #5: Try to take the higher ground…most likely you won’t regret it.
Rule #6: Conventional thinking restricts your possibilites: be unconventional in thoughts and actions whenever it helps.
Rule #7: Something sublime in life happens regularly—take a moment to bask in the sublime as often as possible.
Rule #8: Whether you are in Timbuktu or Paris, whether you look stunning or in need of a makeover, whether life kisses your forehead or kicks you in the nuts…you can choose happiness…really, you can.
Rule #9: Regularly, reach outside of yourself and do something for someone else, if for no other reason than for personal growth, because you will grow as a human being if you do this.
Rule #10:LET IT GO…when a thought starts becoming obsessive for you, find a healthful distraction and move on…and for gods sake, LET IT GO. ;)
Rule #11 Some things in life bring on Pure Emotion…there is nothing you can do about that except ride the wave…ride the wave…ride the wave…eventually the tide will settle down, depending upon the weather conditions.
Rule #12 Whether you believe you are the luckiest or unluckiest person in the world, remember, within a split second, everything can change on a dime!
Rule #13 Whenever you make a mistake, admit it as soon as possible, do what you can to correct the damage, and move forward.
Rule #14 Go ahead and panic on occasion; after all, our bodies are designed with specific fight/flight abilities. Otherwise, don’t panic.
Rule #15 Respect your life relationships, whether they still exist or not.
...to be continued…
