Week 5 Completed - First 20 minute run yay! 22 months ago

Oh so happy about this one, I had been dreading the first 20 minute run all week and was struggling to get out there today…
Funny enough I think having this update to make here, helped push me out there. I ran the lower track of the botanical gardens, right by the Opera house on a glorious sunny day. I fely dreadful from about 8 minutes to 15 minutes, but I think after that I got my rhythym going and it felt fine. I would definately have been able to keep going for another few minutes at the end.
I think it was important today to just get that initial non stop run over and not feel so scared of it.
Week 6 here I come!!

Week 4 Couch to 5k - still on it 22 months ago

UUH stilll not ready to move off this week…. Still finding it a big challenge and I am very eager not to overdo it early on in case I give up.
I plan to do 2 more sessions of this on Wednesday and Friday, then break for a few days and just be done with it and move to week 5.
I hope to be finished the program by beg – mid March and then start into my half marathon training (which I have allocated about 5 months for)

Week 4 Couch to 5k 23 months ago

Just started Week 4 of the Couch to 5K program http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml . (Hey I know the half marathon is ambitious at the moment). Left work and ran through the botanial gardens. Its was humid and overcast, but dan that view of the Opera House never fails to blow me away. It was so wonderful to leave my stuffy office and head to a near empty garden. Perhaps it was al the recent rain, but there was a thick, heady smell of eucylpus in the air. I came across a mother bird taking her fluffy little chick off for what was probably his first trip on the ground.
Running is so great, my head felt a lot calmer than it had in ages. I’m having a funny, difficult phase with a good friend at the moment, she rang earlier and we were able to have good, non stressed out chat.
I really hope I persist with my goal…

Run the sydney half marathon 23 months ago

Every September, the Sydney Running Festival rolls by, and every year I say “next year”.

Running for me is about the only exercise I can tolerate. A session in the gym is about as stimulating as a 5 day game of cricket. As I age disgracefully, I am starting to notice that I finding it harder to sleep at night, my stress levels are higher and sometimes I just find it hard to get energetic and motivated and most importantly keep positive.

And I know the only answer to this is regular exercise
