i haven’t been horribly but i haven’t been as well dedicated as i use to be.

so this entry is just a little reminder that i had better get back on track. especially with all these yummy-yummy holidays coming up in the cold season.

areas that i’ve been weak at:

1. eating more veggies
2. cutting down on starch/carbs
3. drinking more water

that’s about it, i think. sweets and stuff have not been a problem, minus the occasional treat. but i HAVE needed to pump up my veggies. and i’ve been slacking off on the water thing. which, i’ve noticed, takes away my energy.

limiting portions 3 years ago

the thing i love buying from M&M Meat Shop, aside from the convenience of pre-perpared food, is that their meat portions are controlled.

last night, we grilled 4 oz. bacon wrapped filet mignon. the beauty was that it was jsut 4 oz.

with it, i had half a large potato and loaded the rest of my dinner plate up with grilled veggies (of course, there’s never a limit of veggies).

and yes…

satisfied twas i.

healthy eating: week of august 7th, 2006 - conclusion 3 years ago

well, i enjoyed our dinners for sure, while camping!

but no junk food (aside from the s’mores and marshmellows).

i opted for merlot over beer. and okay, so i had a few swigs of scotch. not like i really enjoyed it but i liked the way it warmed my body on the chillier nights.

it definitely helps to pack healthy food while on a trip. makes a huge difference.

doug enticed me with ice cream sold at the park’s store. i turned it down – reminding him we were going to have s’mores that night.

i’m going to take it easy on trying to be extra healthy for the rest of the weekend, but will get back into it come next week.

well, we’re going camping this week. i’m not going to even try to be an angel. for one thing, we are preparing nightly smores around the campfire, each night.

however, we did focus more on healthy granola bars and packed a bunch of fruit and veggies. as well as baked chips. no other junk food aside from the smores.

still doing well… except that by the end of the week, i really craved potato chips and chocolate and cake and ice cream and french fries… ugh. was it pms-ing or just due to my increase in physical activity that was makeing my appetite wild!

i did the best i could. i bought a small bag of baked potato chips with extremely low fat from the health food section. and i bought a couple of those chocolate protein bars to substitute chocoate bars. a friend also split one of those cadbury thins… she joked, “see? only 50 calories each if we split it!”

it was the best 50 calories of chocolate i have had in a long time. :)

low-fat frozen yogurt helped to.

but sunday night, i caved when i went out with family – yummy chinese food. please, like i could resist?

this week, have started off very well. i’ve been pumping up fresh veggies.

i did pretty good except for yesterday, where i had fish and chips for lunch, and an indian feast last night.

no guilt, though. the way i worked out this week put me in a very hungry state yesterday. i think my body needed the extra calories.

today, i was still hungry. i just had TWO tomato sandwhiches. which… is okay. not unhealthy as i had light, fat-reduced mayo, whole wheat bread and baby carrots on the side.

i have to admit… last night, i allowed myself to give into temptations. after a great week of eating with care and a kickass week of fatburing and strength exercising, i really did not feel guilty about having good eats with all of my best friends.

it had been so long since we all got together with everyone accounted for. my best friend and her husband moved into their new, 2-floor flat downtown, there was beer, there was wine, the food was AMAZING and the dessert was even better…

good people, good atmosphere and good food. i would have been crazy not to live for the moment. carpe diem. that was all that it was about last night.

week of july 10th, 2006: day 3 3 years ago

just realized that i have not had any fast-food take out in like… what? two months? the last time i was at McD’s(which was a long time ago), i had a bottle of water and a grilled, chicken salad.

the milestones that i’ve hit is that i suddenly have realized that i can’t remember the last time i had any cravings for McD’s, or any other fastfood chain.

in fact, just thinking of McD’s fries makes me feel quizy. i no longer can tolerate that level of saltiness!

i’m happy to say that this week has been right on track. i have also saved my reward for tonight – chocolate yogurt ice cream. one scoop should do the trick!

week of june 16th, 2006 3 years ago

it’s the third day of this week. there’s a slice of chocolate cake sitting there on my dining room table, leftover from doug’s belated birthday party we had with friends saturday night.

i have been bypassing it NUMEROUS amounts of times, praying to the heavens above for some one ELSE to just eat it so it could be taken away from my site.

three days of healthy eating habits thus far… my goal is another six week cycle (starting this week as last week was only so-so). hoping to stay really good maybe even for seven weeks. as we’re going camping on the 7th of august and i KNOW i won’t be on the angelic side when we’re out in the fresh air (fresh air makes me hungry… camping makes me very hungry… and we like to eat very well while camping).

shy has gotten 3 cheers on this goal.
