lets face it… i’m never going to boost my strength training until chaeli is a lot older. right, now, working out 4-5 times a week, with some resistance training worked into my evening routines, is all i can manage.

but… this is still something worthwhile doing. i’ll return to this one day for sure!

well, the only time i do any resistance training is at the end of my low impact dvd sessions. it’s better then nothing.

but. not. good. enough.

i know i can do better. i’m not going to be too hard on myself because i know that it’s not a bad thing to gradually add to a routine after some comfort level has set. so next week will be the first week i get back into doing more strength training.

and if that doesn’t work…

i may cave. and hire some young, gym rat-thang to whip my ass once a week.

does lifting heavy bags and boxes count? because that’s all i did this weekend…

so far, i have not done any extra resistance training outside of my usually routine. the only strength training i am getting has been incooporated to the end of my 3-mile walk dvd’s, where we use light weights or resistance bands for some circuit training.

i still want to do heavier resistance at least twice a week so every muscle gets worked on at a weekly basis.

i am thinking that if i could wake up early enough wednesdays, i can hit the gym before work and do some free weights. preferably 2 types of exericese per muscle group. and then saturday sometime, do some resistance bands just to help even things out before my next weekend.

i use to love lifting weights… going to the gym and spending 2 hours to get my cardio and my weights in properly was like heaven to me.

but now that i’m working full time and am a parent, how realistic would that lifestyle be now? i want to spend the extra time that i have with our daughter now.

yet, i know that i can’t JUST do cardio. i need to add the resistance training back in. at some level. so i’ve found a way to via circuit training where i can use hand held waits or resistance bands while still doing cardio.

hopefully, if i do this 2-3 times a week, it will be better then nothing…

it will at least tie me over to a day (far in the future) where chaeli is older, off doing her own thing, and i have more time to lift weights (hopefully, she’ll even come to the gym with me!)
