am currently reading The Art of Happiness which is a book written by a psychologist in direct collaboration with the dalai lama.
it was the fact that the work had insights and interviews with the dalai lama that captured my interest, as i have always had a fascination towards buddhism.
i bought this book a few years back but completely forgot about it until i found it in our library two days ago.

haruki murakami certainly has a sense of flow in his story telling that is quite intoxicating.
i loved this book. the only critique i have is that it leaves the reader wanting more in the end.
if anyone has read this book, let me know… i need to talk to some one about the ending. i have questions that is in need of answers.

i’ve started reading south of the border, west of the sun by huraki murakami.
i’m so relieved to have finally found some luck in picking up some good reads.
hope to finish this one in a couple of weeks.

yeah… so the books came in from the library. i happily tossed aside the da vinci code and am now in heaven as i devour the words of banana yoshimoto’s hardboiled, hardluck.

i’ve actually been reading more these past two couple of days. and yes… i have been reading the da vinci code.
surprisingly, i’m enjoying it!
and i think i’ve figured out why. the other two dan brown novels had a woman as one of the main characters. dan brown doesn’t know jack shit about writing up a woman character. THAT’s what bothered me.
in digital fortress, he spent the early chapters making his heroine seem like a space cadet, i found it hard to believe she was one of the top geniuses of america.
unless there just hasn’t been any main female characters thus far in the novel (as i’m only in the beginning stages – i read slow)... oh god, let there not be any main female character roles… please. i beg of you.

i started reading da vinci code. not bad. but not great. at least for me.
so i went online and searched for some books at the library. i was so happy! i didn’t realize that banana yoshimoto released a book a year ago! hardboiled and hardluck – i believe there’s two stories in one book!
i put a hold on it so i can pick it up at the local library up the street from us. as well as haruki murakami’s south of the border, west of the sun.
i’m very excited about these two books!
so far, neither authors have been a disappointment.

okay… i know i gave up on dan brown’s digital fortress. i know i gave up on angels and demon.
yet, here i am, about to embark on another dan brown book – the ever-so popular, da vinci code.
i’m insane. or at least, not very bright. but i’ll give it a chance. this time, if i don’t think i’ll get into it, i’ll cut myself early, give the book back to my uncle, and pick up something i know i’ll enjoy.
in fact, i think one way to get myself back into reading, is revisiting an old-time favourite.
just to put the spark back in.

okay, i’ve decided that enough is enough. if i still can not get into the storyline, then it is time for me to put it down and start a book that will actually interest me!
i have ayn rand’s ‘fountain head’ or nien cheng’s ‘life and death in shanghai.’ or… i can go to the library and take out another haruki murakami book.
