Not such a bad day, considering it was Friday the 13th!

  • My Darling Daughter called me and we had a good chat. She is trying hard to figure out what direction to head in, with her biggest decision being whether to move out to California, or return to New York City. Trying to be supportive and not let my own opinions get in the way too much!
  • We got our permit to cut down our Christmas tree in the National Forest. This year, the Forest Service is giving out lots fewer permits than in the past, so we were glad to get ours before they sell out.
  • Productive cleaning up in the garage. I’m feeling really motivated to let go of all these things we don’t need any more.

  • Again, another gorgeous day and a two mile walk wih the dog. It was really relaxing!
  • I tried a new cast-on for toe-up socks: Judy’s Mgic Cast-on. Using the internet for help, it was quite easy and I’m really happy with the results.

*Went to the Small Group meeting for Church again. It’s a really great group, enjoyed the people and the discussion.

  • I got a very nice note in the mail from my former brother-in-law with get well wishes. Nice that at least one person in my former family is being supportive.
  • We walked for two miles with the dog, and I felt really good.
  • Lots of cleaning in the basement and garage happening, feeling really motivated about de-cluttering.

  • Made the appointment to get started on my radiation treatments. Although I’m not exactly anxious to start them per se, it’s part of the journey to get well, and I am anxious to move on and get all of this behind me!
  • Had a good chat with my Darling Daughter. She is visiting my cousin in California and doing some work for him right now. I am so glad for the support she is getting from my family!
  • Spent some time cleaning up the garage, took another small load of items to the Goodwill, including a very nice kid’s bike. Makes me feel good that this bike will finally get some use. It was practically brand new, purchased for my stepdaughter but then she never rode it.

  • I had my follow-up visit with my surgeon and everything is going great! (I knew that already, but good to get a professional confirmation!) Also, she had received the second pathology test (the one that had to go to California) and while I didn’t score as low as I would have liked, my results came out as “Intermediate Risk” for recurrence without chemotherapy. THe number was low enough that I feel comfortable passing on the chemo, because it seems that the side effects of chemotherapy would outweigh any possible risk reduction.
  • Figures out how to knot my sock on two circular needles instead of four double points. I’ve tried almost every way there is to knit socks, and I think I’m going to like this way a lot!
  • Tried some new wine (to celebrate my fairly good new on the pathology front) and it was yummy! It’s a pinot noir from Brandborg Cellars, which just happens to be where my daughter’s new boyfriend works. Which is of course, why I bought it. First wine I’ve had from Oregon, I believe. Good stuff.

  • We took a two-mile walk with the dog. I’m feeling almost back to a regular amount of energy, which makes me really happy.
  • Attended a Bible study which some old friends invited me to. It was really a nice group. Next step: I think I’m going to go to a service at their church, which is a big step for me. But sounds like the church might be just what I am looking for philosophically.
  • Cute cats! My friend A (who had last night’s meeting) has four cats. They are so friendly and soft….can’t have a cat here any more due to The Boy’s Really Big Allergy to them.

  • Feeling pretty good yesterday, got some de-cluttering finished. Feels good to get some chores done around here.
  • Enjoyed watching “V” first episode yesterday. Looks like an interesting show.
  • Started knitting my second sock of my toe-up socks. I like the self-patterning yarn I’m using a lot, and I can’t wait to get the second sock finished.

Sunday, November 1 1 week ago
  • My Dh and I went out for brunch. The food was delicious and lots of fun.
  • The weather was improving after our snowstorn, we took the dog for a nice walk and I felt pretty good.
  • I finished the sock I’ve been knitting, it is a toe-up sock and I tried a new bind off at the top which worked really well. I’m really glad to find a bind-off that I like for these!
  • I’m feeling better every day that goes by. Looking forward to having a productive week.

Wednesday October 28 2 weeks ago
  • We had tons of snow again….at least 18 inches in our yard. We were prepared, though, and had fun staying inside working on a jigsaw puzzle and watching TV.
  • THe World Series! Go Phillies! Really enjoyed Game 1.
  • I’m feeling quite a bit more energetic each day. Not bad considering the surgery was only six days ago.

Monday, October 26 2 weeks ago
  • I finally felt not so tired yesterday. Was able to do a few things around the house. I really don’t like feeling so helpless, glad that my energy is coming back.
  • The weather was good enough that we took the dog for a little walk ( with my DH holding onto her). The fresh air was great!
  • My surgeon called with really good news about the pathology report. Everything agreed with the initial biopsy which was all about as positive as can be when dealing with cancer. Now I just have to let he incisions heal up so that I can start the radiation.
  • My daughter arrived safely in California, where she went to visit her boyfriend and various family members. Although the airline managed to “misplace” her luggage. I hope they will find it!
