  • It was nice to spend the day inside….it was freezing cold here, with a high temperature of only 18 degress. Brrr!
  • My Dh and I enjoyed watching the Amazing Race, it was a great last show. I liked all three of the final teams, it was a great race to the finish this time.
  • I cast on for another pair of socks. Very relaxing to work on them!

Friday, December 4....was a pretty good day! 2 days ago
  • I have now finished the first week of my daily radiation treatments. Yay! I am scheduled to get 33 of them, but with Christmas and New Year’s closings of the Radiation Department, it’s going to take me seven and a half week to get these done. I am so happy that so far, I don’t feel any ill effects, although I am told that the bad effects are cumulative.
  • I got my hair cut, that always makes me feel better.
  • I got an amazing surprise in the mail, I received a prayer shawl! And I have idea who it’s from, there was no name on the envelope, just an address in Huntington Beach California. It’s really pretty and I can’t tell you how good it made me feel knowing that someone in California made this for me.
  • We went to the mall, trying to do some Christmas shopping. Both of our mothers are really difficult to buy rpesents for, so we didn’t buy anything. Although it was fun seeing the decorations at the mall. Plus, they were having a promotion there where various schools were competing to make interesting sculptures out of canned food, with the food items then donated to a Food Bank. What a great idea!

  • Talked to my Darling Daughter on the phone, and she said that her job interview went quite well, although she won’t know if she gets the job or not until next week. She sounded pretty optimistic, though.
  • I had my second radiation treatment (two down, thirty-one to go!). I was not nearly as nervous as I was for the first one, all in all, they are not too bad at all so far.
  • Spend some relaxing time knitting. I started making a cowl for a Christmas present, part of a Knit-A-Long on Ravelry. Love the group effort in these Knit-A-Longs!

  • Had a great talk with my Darling Daughter on the phone. She has a nice Thanksgiving with her BF and family. Even more exciting, she got an interview for the job she really wants to get in California. The interview is on Tuesday. I really have my fingers crossed for her! She sounds so happy to be in California, I am really hoping that things will work out for her to stay there permanently.
  • Spent some relaxing time with my DH finishing off a jigsaw puzzle. It’s a really nice picture of some Fossil Beds in Oregon. makes me want to visit them!
  • Really enjoyed watching the Amazing Race last night. Next show is the final three teams, and for once, I like all three final teams. Next week’s show is going to be a fun one!

  • Christmas Tree Success! Yesterday was our day to go to the forest and cut down our Christmas tree, and we found a good one! It was about nine feet tall, so we had to do a bit of surgery to fit in the room, but we are really happy with this one.
  • Yummy Thanksgiving leftovers for dinner. Sadly they are almost gone. That’s the downside of having my mom cook the turkey, we don’t get so many leftovers to bring home. On the other hand, we don’t get tired of turkey, either.
  • Took a much-needed nap in the afternoon! So Decadent!

  • I got all my grocery shopping done for Thanksgiving. Hopefully, I didn’t forget anything. I really hate going to the grocery store on the day before Thanksgiving!
  • I cast on for another pair of socks. This time I am trying a new pattern from Cookie A called “maelstrom”. I love the way the sock looks and can’t wait to see how mine comes out!
  • Really enjoyed watching “V” with DH. I can’t believe, though, that there are no more episodes until March! Argh!

  • I attended a new (to me) church that quite a few of my friends attend. I really enjoyed the service a lot. Everyone at the church was very friendly. It was good to feel so comfortable on a first visit.
  • I baked a pumpkin pie, just for us. I am supposed to bake two more for our family Thanksgiving dinner, but since my mom always sends the leftovers home with her single friends, there’s never any left after Thanksgiving. It was delish!
  • Our knitting group turned out to be only two of us, my friend J and I. We had a great time chatting and knitting, and I let her talk me into buying some yummy handpainted yarn from her. Now to decide what I’m going to make with it!

Friday, November 13th 3 weeks ago

Not such a bad day, considering it was Friday the 13th!

  • My Darling Daughter called me and we had a good chat. She is trying hard to figure out what direction to head in, with her biggest decision being whether to move out to California, or return to New York City. Trying to be supportive and not let my own opinions get in the way too much!
  • We got our permit to cut down our Christmas tree in the National Forest. This year, the Forest Service is giving out lots fewer permits than in the past, so we were glad to get ours before they sell out.
  • Productive cleaning up in the garage. I’m feeling really motivated to let go of all these things we don’t need any more.

  • Again, another gorgeous day and a two mile walk wih the dog. It was really relaxing!
  • I tried a new cast-on for toe-up socks: Judy’s Mgic Cast-on. Using the internet for help, it was quite easy and I’m really happy with the results.

*Went to the Small Group meeting for Church again. It’s a really great group, enjoyed the people and the discussion.

  • I got a very nice note in the mail from my former brother-in-law with get well wishes. Nice that at least one person in my former family is being supportive.
  • We walked for two miles with the dog, and I felt really good.
  • Lots of cleaning in the basement and garage happening, feeling really motivated about de-cluttering.
