Well, I read 5 of the books that I put on this list during 2009.

I just didn’t do well at reading from a set list of books. I like to read what I am in the mood for at the moment. I did enjoy the five books that I read, but I don’t think I will do this again. I prefer to be more spontaneous in my reading choices.

Finished 2009 TBR Book No. 5 " The Golden gate Murders" by Peter King 6 months ago

I finished the book “The Golden Gate Murders” while on our trip to Califiornia. In fact, I finished it while visiting San Francisco, which was quite appropriate!

Enjoyed it a lot, will read more in this series. (I think there are three total Jack London mysteries by Peter King, but there may be more.)

3. TBR 2009 Challenge Book No. 3 "The Septembers of Shriaz" by Dalia Sofer 9 months ago

Good book! Set in Tehran, Iran, at the time of the recent Iranian revolution. Follows one family whose husband was unjustly imprisoned.

2. Finished 2009 TBR Book No. 2 10 months ago

This afternoon I finished the book “Twilight” by Stephanie Meyer. Well, this first book in the series was okay, but not as great as I expected. Still, it left me hanging ane wanting to read the next book in the series.

Now I can go see the movie!

1. 2009 TBR Book No. 1 "Jar City" by Arnaldur Indriditson 11 months ago

This turned out to be a really well written mystery set in Iceland. When a lonely old man named Holberg is found murdered in his apartment, Reyjavkik police inspector Erlandur searches for clues deep in the past. As well as being an interesting mystery, I learned a lot about Iceland, too. And one of the interesting things about Iceland is that people, apparently, are known only by their first names. At least that’s what the author says in the book’s introduction.

The same author has written several more books which I am looking forward to reading!

My 2009 TBR List 11 months ago

I think that I am going to enjoy this goal! Especially since I joined PaperbackSwap, I have been accumulating books which I sort of traded for on a whim….I have looked through my shelves and at the books I have picked up, and here is my 2009 TBR List:

1. Jar City, by Arnuldar Indrididson Finished on 1/11/2009
2. The Big Sleep, by Raymond Chandler Finished on 4/26/09
3. Birds of a Feather, by Jacqueline Winspear
4. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, by J.K. Rowling
5. The Weaver’s Tale, by Kate Sedley
6. Murder on Lenox Hill, by Victoria Thompson
7. Unaccustomed Earth, by Jhumpa Lahiri
8. The Golden Gate Murders, by Peter King Finished on 6/12/09
9. Dog Days: Dispatched From Bedlam Farm, by Jon Katz
10. The Road, by Cormac MacCarthy
11. The Septembers of Shiraz, by Dalia Safir Finished on 3/18/2009
12. Twilight, by Stephanie Meyer Finished on 2/2/2009

This is going to be fun! I have all the books here except for “Unaccustomed Earth” and “Dog Days of Bedlam Farm” which have been on my PaperbackSwap Wish List for a long time. “Dog Days” has been on my wish list for a year and a half! Well, if I don’t get it by the end of this year, I guess I will get it from the library!
