Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

- The Robots.

sierrak has written 58 entries about this goal

58. "204 Rosewood Lane" by Debbie Macomber

Second Book in Macomber’s Cedar Cove series. I really enjoy the characters in these books.

Finished: November 15, 2010

57. "Her Fearful Symmetry" by Audrey Neffenegger

Second book from Ms. Neffenegger, who also wrote “The Time Traveller’s Wife”. THis was a great ghost story, I really enjoyed the plot.

Finished: November 9, 2010

56. "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" by Jeffrey Lindsay

This was the first Dexter book. I don’t have Showtime, so I haven’t seen the series based on this book. But this book was really enjoyable. Dexter is a great character.

Finished: October 18, 2010

55. "The Cellist of Sarajevo"

This book was really well written. Tells the story of three different residents of Sarajevo during a twenty-two day period of the Siege of Sarajevo. The story was a little depressing, but still beautifully written.

Finished: October 12, 2010.

54. "The Knitting Circle" by Ann Hood

Excellent book. I would recommend this to anyone who feels like their life has hit rock bottom. A group of friends share their secrets over their knitting, and find the strength to keep going.

Finished: September 24, 2010.

53. "A Blind Man Can See How Much I Love You" by Amy Bloom

Collection of eight short stories, each with a theme of different kinds of love. Amy Bloom writes beautifully, but several of these stories were quite depressing.

Finished: September 20, 2010

52. "Between Sisters" by Kristin Hannah

This was an excellent book, I just couldn’t put it down. Thanks to sjsuphilly for posting it here.

My second book by Kristin Hannah, going to look for more!

Finished: September 13, 2010

51. "Death of Riley" by Rhys Bowen

This was the second book in the Molly Murphy myster series. Molly Murphy is a young Irish girl who arrives in New York City at the turn of the century. The second book was even better than the first one!

50. "Little Bee" by Chris Cleave

My 50th book…woohoo!

I’m not quite sure how I felt about this book, parts of it were very good, and other things about it really irritated me. The story is about a young Nigerian girl who goes to England as an illegal immigrant, and her relationship with an English woman who she met while visiting in Nigeria.

Finished: September 2, 2010.

49. "The Virgin of Small Plains" by Nancy Pickard

This great suspense story won an Agatha Award the year it was published. Set in the Kansas town of Small Plains, it was a rea page-turner!

Finished: August 27, 2010.
