Never give up! 7 months ago

I had a really bad month in February when three new classes I was planning all fell through in the same week. I had pretty much given up entirely on the Saturday class I was trying to find space for downtown. Then, suddenly, the issues around the space resolved themselves! I’ve been teaching the class for two weeks and it looks like it’s a go for April as well! Hooray :-)

New logo, new website! 9 months ago

I’ve made great progress with my goal this week. I sat down with a designer and streamlined my logo. It’s similar in concept (she actually thought I did a good job), but it’s more simple and very clean. I have the correct format to get real business cards made.

I completely redesigned my website (www.karmicwebyoga.com) and added a Twitter stream. I’m going to re-tag and categorise my entries and start updating the blog regularly. Very excited about this project!

Next steps: New CV, coverletter, so I can do another marketing blitz downtown. Also want to create a flyer for corporate yoga.

Hooray for word-of-mouth! 23 months ago

I added a new class this Fall and I’m adding two more in January. I’m up to 12 classes a week. My goal is to add two more corporate classes (or private sessions) per week before the summer, bringing me up to 14 classes per week.

New corporate class and a workshop! 2 years ago

This spring, I did a corporate workshop and I added a new corporate class this summer.

My next step in this goal is to write up a proposal to present workshops at an upcoming conference. I’m also going to offer some free classes in parks around the city to promote my corporate yoga business.

Going corporate 3 years ago

Because I’m working an office contract (a carry-over from the summer, when yoga work is slim), I haven’t really tried to get more classes. But I did add a corporate class and I found a way to get insured so I can add more corporate work in the spring!

Workshops 3 years ago

I’m in the processing of putting together a proposal for a workshop that I’m going to offer in partnership with a friend. She’s a massage therapist and will teach the massage portions. I’ll teach the yoga components. If it’s successful, we will do a series of them in different places. I’m eager to find a way to convey some of the positive messages/skills of yoga through this medium and also bring in some much-needed extra income. I think workshops and courses may be my ticket in terms of expanding my work.

Website is launched! 3 years ago

Karmic Web Yoga

Next: compiling a list of small gyms and larger yoga studios to submit my CV to. I would like to distribute the CVs before the end of the month, so I have my work cut out for me!

Also need to take my CV into the copy shop and see what kind of deal I can get on colour copies.

Website 3 years ago

Last week, I finally put together a website for my business internet domain. I really put a lot of work into it – did a lot more than I thought I would. Since then, it’s sort of sat there and I’m afraid that I’ll ‘not get around to it’ again. I really want to finish it by this weekend, and launch it. It would be great to start telling my students about it next week. In fact, I’m thinking of making up special cards that highlight the URL, to give out at my classes! Instant readership! (a big part of this site is the blog).

Business Goal for 2006 3 years ago

Simple: find a way to get some insurance so I can expand my teaching into corporate settings and even do a few classes on my own (in church basements, etc). I would also like to lead more corporate workshops because I enjoy them so much.
