A: Edward Abbey : Desert Solitaire – a classic. Don’t know why I didn’t read this years ago.

C: Suzanne Collins : The Hunger Games trilogy – yeah, that happened
H: Hugh Howey : Wool – not sure it lives up to all of the hype, but a much better than average tale of dystopia
W: Oscar Wilde : The Portrait of Dorian Gray – better than expected
B : Walter Bonatti : The Mountains of My Life – Excellent collection of mountaineering stories from a great alpinist.
M : Greg Mortenson & David Relin : Three Cups of Tea – Poorly written account of a man who built schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan for girls. Mortenson’s actions are heroic and inspiring (and what make the book worth reading), but the prose is awkward and bad and made me grate my teeth every other page.
