Are sort of problematic, aren’t they?
When can I mark a “never” goal as done? Also, is it never appropriate to accept a plastic bag? Do the produce plastic bags count? Because though I do not mindlessly dump all produce into those, I do use them for wet stuff or things that are basically impossible to do individually (like I’d never use one for apples, or carrots). Like green beans, those sort of need to go into those little produce bags.
How about when you order take out and it arrives all bundled in plastic?
Farmers’ markets are like plastic commerce zones. It is really shocking. A lot of the stands want their little baskets back so you have to dump the produce into something, or they want to weigh your selection which they want to do in a plastic bag. I’ve taken to bringing a few of my own plastic bags to the FM so as not to totally disrupt the system.
So, I did bring home a plastic bag a few weeks ago as the bagger put a portebello mushroom in a plastic bag to protect it, but I didn’t see her do it. Officially, i did not accept it because I was not offered it.
But, all in all, I have carried a canvas or whole foods bag with me in the car, on foot to go to pick up sandwiches, and on the motorcycle. This goal is essentially “never mindlessly accept a plastic bag” and I’m doing quite well at that.
Refuse plastic, save the world.
