To clarify, I would prefer to live in Denver or Boulder, for now…due to my line of work and personal preference, urban areas would offer more work and are more appealing to me at this point in my life.
Some things I am wondering about:
-I have grown attached to the funky shops, historic theaters, and neighborhoods of my city. I know this is an obstacle to overcome for anyone moving somewhere new, but if I can’t find places I enjoy patronizing, will I like it there?
-I like an artsy, alternative scene, and wonder if there is that type of culture…kind of goes with the previous line.
-I get tired of chain stores and like to support small and locally – owned businesses and restaurants, and I read peoples’ entries that there is some variety lacking in this arena…also goes with the previous concerns…hmmm.
-I can’t tolerate closed-mindedness and know CO to be more conservative in general, but areas of my state have a conservative reputation as well, and still you can always find the groups and organizations promoting tolerance, variety, progressive views, etc.
-I think it boils down to finding a place where you feel like you can fit in, adapt to, and enjoy living. I feel lucky that I might have that luxury to pick a place to take up residence. I have wondered if Colorado is that place for quite a while, but have yet to sack up and get on the horse, as my old roommate used to say.
