Own only cruelty free cosmetics

Decided to give away any leftover ‘cruel’ products; I don’t want any in my possession any longer! I feel brilliant that I’ve actually taken action and DONE something about an issue I feel strongly about. Things designed to prettify a human should not be tested on another creature. In the time I’ve been working on this goal I’ve gone from struggling to find cruelty-free brands to being spoilt for choice – it shows how much the industry has changed for the better in such a short amount of time.
I am very proud of myself :)

Just went through my makeup and threw away anything from a brand which is not out-and-proud cruelty free! I have a couple things to use up (otherwise it would be wasteful to throw away), generally things I’ve been given as a gift, before I can mark this as done. I’ve been very open and firm to family and friends that I won’t use cosmetics tested on animals, so hopefully I won’t receive any more :) if I do, I will give them to the charity shop to ensure they aren’t wasted.

I’ve also discovered a couple more brands which are cruelty free, always good to broaden your buying range!

Right, my dentist put some stuff over the sensitive area of my teeth, and it does feel a lot better, and I also found a new, cruelty-free toothpaste that claims to be good for sensitive teeth, so hopefully I can stop buying non-cruelty-free toothpaste now :) I will be so happy if I can…

A while ago I started experiencing sensitivity in one of my teeth, getting to the point where it was painful to eat certain foods, drink cold drinks, etc. The dentist said my gum had receded slightly over the tooth, exposing the sensitive bit underneath. I’m disappointed because I can’t find a cruelty-free sensitive toothpaste that actually works. I hate using a toothpaste that might have been tested on animals, but if I don’t I really struggle with sensitivity pain – to the point where I couldn’t chew food on that side of my mouth. Hopefully one day I’ll find a kind, effective alternative.

Ok. I’m really against testing human vanity products on animals – things like shampoo, make-up, moisturiser, etc. I do think some animal testing is sadly necessary, such as discovering treatments for human and animal diseases, BUT how is it fair for an animal to suffer for something it will never benefit from? I realised that my strong views on this meant nothing if I was buying products that could have been tested on animals, so I am going to use up the products I have (which admittedly may take a while, I’m a product junkie and have a toolbox of make-up =/) and then buy only products from companies that are against animal testing. Only then will I tick off this goal.

At first I thought I wouldn’t be able to afford cruelty-free stuff, as it tends to be pricey, but now all Superdrug’s own brand products have the “against animal testing” statement on the packaging, I can achieve this goal pretty cheaply! They even do cruelty-free hair dye! Even so, the choice for cruelty-free products is very small, and I am going to miss using some of my favourite products, but I am going to stick by my values.
