This good thing happened today...

from inception i have been involved with a voluntary group as a sort of mentor and 18 months on we have come to a parting of the ways because those in the group feel able to go forward with less support,while concerned that in some respects they are not ready i am proud and pleased that they have this confidence and will,for myself i am also happy as new challenges are emerging for me and i will be able to dedicate more time to these,a lovely way to go forward….....

an amazing young woman called sarah outen has just completed a solo row from austrailia to mauritius,a distance of 3,100 miles in 125 days,rowing to raise money for the arthritis care charity
she has endured the privations of being alone at sea in a very small boat in a good cause and always with remarkable fortitude and good humour,she is ashining example to young people today and a prime example of british pluck and endeavour.

the british government has revoked the permission for rwandans suspected of crimes connected to the 1994 genocide to stay in this country allowing them to be extradited back to rwanda to stand trial.

my other niece emma who expects her little girl in august has been worrying her socks off because scans showed the baby was not growing too well,she had another scan today and the good news is that the little blighter has put on a bit of a spurt and is up where she should be so thats a big load off!YAY

met someone today who physically and intellectually reminded me of someone i was close to once,a briefish conversation totally by accident but it lifted me in a very tangible way,put a bit of a rosy glow on the day as i was reminded of uncomplicated fun,an art i seem to have mislaid of late,nice to be reminded…...

i was listening to a favourite radio show last night and the dj did a telephone interview with patti smith.
now i had an image in my head about what she might be like in real life and although i liked her music for some reason i thought she might be a tad unpleasant as a person.
the interview changed that perception,she came across as bright, engaging, vunerable ,caring ,gentle and not at all self absorbed,she spoke with real warmth about her husband and children and really engaged with the interviewer.
it was quite humbling to have my preconceptions so totally overturned.i’m really pleased i heard the interview.
