My second Harry Potter book. I can see why they’ve been such a fantastic success. The difference between a very well written children’s book and a poorly written but popular children’s book is amazing. For example, the Goosebumps book were all the rage, but they had no literary value. Goosebumps was huge for a few years, spawned some horrible movies, then died off. Harry Potter, on the other hand, has made a huge cultural impact for over a decade, has spawned movies of every book (almost), and I can even take a class at the university I go to that teaches a Harry Potter book. I can’t wait to read more, especially since I’ve seen the first two movies and had some idea of the story, but I’ve only seen parts of the third and nothing beyond that.

Alright, six books left in 28 days. This goal is still possible, although unlikely, considering that this is a very mentally exhausting time of the year at work, and I’ve been sick, which makes it hard to read, and I’ve had problems with my eyes, which makes it hard to read. I’ll give it a shot, though.
At long last, I have finished this book. I hit a wall about half way through and almost gave up on it. It’s been months since I had read it, and I finally got it going again. I liked it quite a bit, especialy how it ended. It’s been slow reading the last few weeks with finishing school and being sick. Now, I’ve got seven books to read in 32 days to meet this goal. I guess it’ll be a lot of short books for me!
This was the last book for my class, which gives me a month and a half to read another eight books. I really liked this book. It’s still kind of sinking in. Now that I’m done with school reading, I can finish reading All the Pretty Horses, Don Quixote, Watership Down, and War and Peace.
Short little book. I was given it a year ago and just now read it. Now I can get rid of it.
I got the box set of “A Series of Unfortunate Events” for $30 from Borders. One down, twelve to go. I like the writing style in these books.
I’ve been wanting to try out this series for some time. It was quite enjoyable, and rather well written. Provided a good break from all of the required reading that I’m doing. I may actually be taking a class soon that will require me to read it again.
Now I only have one book left to read for class, and the next class isn’t for three weeks. I read this one all this evening. Poetry can be easy like that. It was good, though. I think I’m going to do some research into it tomorrow. Anyways, I think I’ll slip in another book before I read the last book for class.
Two books left to read for my Ethnic Lit class. The quarter is over November 16th, and I don’t start again until the beginning of January. That gives me a month and a half to read 12 books once school’s out. If I can read two books a week, I can do it!
Two more Narnia books and I’ve read the whole series. This one was good. It also seemed the most obviously allegorical book that I’ve read in the series.
