A job makes you independant? — 2 years ago
I keep reading about whom thinks they’re independant. No offense, my fellow netizens, but I’ve never seen the simple ability to support myself as being independant. I’ll refrain from putting this in my done pile even though, by standard definition, I had this taken care of when I was 19.
I consider financial independance to be never prepending anything with, “Hey boss can I…”, again…
It’s been a hard road, but I’m working towards opening a bookstore with a friend and I’ll soon purchase rental properties as a retirement scheme. Hopefully within a few years this will be taken care of. Then I’ll be able to do all those other incredibly wonderful things on my list. Every few months, I’ll come home from Rome, Thermopylae, the ruins of Carthage, Beijing, Ulan Bator, St. Petersburg, Istanbul ( Hehe – Constantinople would be nice to visit – I’ll duck don’t worry! ), to run the store and collect rent and let my partner go to town for a while. Damn that would be great.
