I started making a skirt for my mom, but I think I will end up giving it to my sister because it’s a bit smaller than I had anticipated. I should have started making skirts first because it is actually quite easy. This one has royal blue fabric for the bottom layer, and sheer gold/blue fabric over the top. I got some tiny beads that I’d like to use for embellishment. It’s almost finished except for the bottom hem, which I will sew once I buy more thread. If it doesn’t fit my mom, I hope my sister likes it!

With a week off for summer holidays, I finally set aside some time to start and complete a sewing project. I bought a pattern and some fabric and struggled for about a day to finish it. Despite the fact that I picked very difficult fabric to work with, the dress turned out great! I modelled it for some friends over the weekend and they couldn’t believe that I was able to make something like that. I feel very proud. I’m not ready to consider this completed yet, but I’m well on my way to accomplishing this one! Next project: a skirt. I tip my hat to those who are able to make their own clothes skillfully. It’s hard work!
I got a pattern and made an experimental shirt made from old T shirts. It’s not a masterpiece, but at least I’m trying. Next I’d like to make a skirt. If I make it myself, I’ll be able to make the rear bigger to account for my bubble butt!
This morning I was talking to a co-worker about clothes and mentioned that I wanted to start making some of my own, but I don’t yet have a sewing machine. As luck would have it, she has an extra sewing machine that she’s going to give me! How lucky is that? I’ve got some great fabric and an idea for a dress that I’d like to make. Now that I have the right tools, it may actually get made! I’m very excited!!
