save Darfur

we had the benefit concert last night and it was amazinggg. We made $2,000+ from ticket sales and tee shirts and it’s going straight to helping the victims of the genocide.

last night we had the Save Darfur candelight vigil and it was so amazing. We had a five minute moment of silence for those who died in the genocide, and played a slideshow. We didn’t get a ton of people, maybe thirty or so, but we did get some questions from people walking by and stuff, which is always good. I also spoke in all my classes about it yesterday and wore my “Sudan: Stop the violence” shirt.

Me and some kids from my high school are organizing a couple events to help. We’re having a benefit concert to help Darfur, as well as a candlelight vigil on the mainstreet of our town. I’m so glad I’m finally able to do something.

I also teach a religious education class, and I make my third graders pray that genocide will end everyday—it’s their homework.
