have a baby

Eleanor May was born at 2.03pm on 10th January this year. She was a big baby – 8lbs 13oz, about a pound heavier than anyone was expecting, and man oh man I felt every extra ounce!!

I was able to use the birthing pool – I was in there for about 6 hours, or so I’m reliably told – I don’t really remember the passage of time! I couldn’t deliver in there though because the water got too bloody for the midwives to see what was happening. It hurt much more than I was expecting but I was able to manage with just gas and air (nitrous oxide).

She’s a gorgeous little thing and although I was astounded that she was a girl (I was convinced I was having a boy!), I’m so glad because I really wanted a little girl first.

I’m now 3 days overdue and getting very impatient!

I’m getting lots of tightenings but nothing regular so I don’t think things are going to be happening anytime soon!

COME ON BEAN!!!

Well, only 5 weeks to go – I wish it was here already because I’m thoroughly fed up with being pregnant. I’m so uncomfy and my ribs and pelvis are killing me!!
I know I should be thankful for my little bean but even so – I wish it wasn’t so damned uncomfortable! It’s not like there’s any relief either – other than actual childbirth! Roll on New Year’s Day, that’s what I say!!

All was well, and although we’d decided we would find out the sex if they’d tell us, our hospital won’t tell people anymore – you have to pay for a separate scan!

So we are having a surprise!

24 weeks now – only 16 to go!!

Having had my dating scan on Friday, my due date is now New Year’s Day 2008. So no drunken revelry for me then!
