And acutally having a challenge really helped. Just to push myself along I even made little marks on the calendar for every time I was on time or early. This was also helpful – remember the little gold stars you got in school? Anyway this was one of the toughest goals I set for myself and I am really glad I accomplished it. Now on to the rest of the list!

I’ve been keeping a tally on my calendar of the days I’m on time. And so far I have 13 out of 16 tally marks! In ten days I will count up all my tally marks and if I have less than 5 days late than I will take this off my list and consider it completed! If there are more than five then I will leave it on the list and I will have failed the challenge – which means a new pair of rubber gloves for me:(
In fact I was even a little early today. But then we had a difficult situation to deal with at work, and I wanted to be there to show my support. When it is really important I know I can be relied on – and that’s a good feeling. The next week is going to be difficult, but we will all perservere, I know.
During the two weeks I challenged myself to do this or vacuum the basement, I was on time almost every day! Even on weekends. I considered the challenge a success and so the spiders can continue living in the basement until spring. But since then I seem to have slipped right back into old habits. I was ten minutes late yesterday and today. Ok, so there was snow on my car yesterday for the first time all winter, and there was a delivery truck blocking my driveway today, but still! So I am going to give myself a tougher challenge this time. I have to be on time for a whole month or I will do all the dishes by hand (no dishwasher) for a week!
Of course, I had to drop my car off and the guy at the dealership gave me a ride to work. So of course I was perfectly on time Friday. But I was also on time to the party on Saturday night and to church Sunday morning. And so far this week I was on time Monday and only 4 minutes late today. Funny thing I have noticed that I am not alone in my tardiness. It seems very few of my coworkers keep perfect time, we all seem to be morning slow pokes.
So far this week I have not been exactly on time, but I have only been 5 minutes late. Except for Monday when the dog had to wake me up becuase I changed the time on my alarm, but forgot to turn it on. I was my usual twenty minutes late – which is not bad considering the dog woke me ten minutes before I had to be in!
I’m due in the office at 8:30am every morning. I am usually anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes late every day. I have a 2 minute commute, so it isn’t like I can blame the traffic. This week I’ve decided to up my start time by half an hour. I want to see if I can make it into work at 8 every day. It could be a stretch but it should encourage me to work on my other goal – get to bed on time.
